'Saturday Night Live' Star Chloe Fineman Didn’t Shy Away From Going After Elon Musk Following His Latest Criticism

1 week ago 2

When it comes to the 2024 presidential election, Saturday Night Live made it crystal clear who they were supporting. In addition to having some unapologetic impressions of now-president-elect Donald Trump, SNL even invited Vice President Kamala Harris for a special appearance in the last show before the elections. So, of course, Tesla billionaire Elon Musk, who vehemently supported Trump’s campaign, criticized the show after they tried to impersonate him.

“SNL has been dying slowly for years, as they become increasingly out of touch with reality,” Musk wrote following the Nov. 9 episode.

Following his criticism, SNL star Chloe Fineman took to TikTok to share her experience with the Tesla founder. “I’m gonna come out and say, at long last, that I’m the cast member that he made cry and he’s the host that made someone cry,” Fineman said in a since-deleted video, per Us Weekly.

“If you’re gonna go on your platform and be rude like, guess what?” she continued. “You made I, Chloe Fineman, burst into tears because I stayed up all night writing the sketch, I was so excited, I came in, I asked if you have any questions, and you stared at me like you were firing me from Tesla and were like, ‘It’s not funny.’ I waited for you to be like, ‘Haha, JK.’ No. Then you started pawing through my script being like, ‘I didn’t laugh once. Not one time.’”

Later that week, however, Musk was proved wrong. “Cut to the sketch [that] made it on [TV] and it was fine and I actually had a really good time, and I thought you’re really funny in it,” Fineman said. “But have a little manners here, sir.”

Previously, fellow SNL star Bowen Yang hinted at their disagreement without naming Fineman. “Imagine you stay up until 4 a.m. writing a sketch and then the host is like, ‘I f— hate this,’” Yang said on the Fly on the Wall podcast. “Your nerves are frayed, you’re going to have some weird, bizarre emotional response.”

As a reminder, many of the cast members of SNL reacted to the election results in the show’s cold open last weekend. “On Tuesday, Americans went to the polls and elected Donald Trump to be the next president of the United States,” Yang said, looking straight to the camera. “To many people, including many people watching this show right now, the results were shocking and even horrifying,” Ego Nwodim then continued.

“Donald Trump, who tried to forcibly overturn the results of the last election, was returned to office by an overwhelming majority,” Heidi Gardner continued. “This is the same Donald Trump who openly called for vengeance against his political enemies,” Kenan Thompson said.

“Now thanks to the Supreme Court, there are no guard rails, nothing to protect the people who are brave enough to speak out against him,” Yang and Nwodim continued.

While the sketch then continued with the cast joking that they were always on Trump’s side, they added another jab at Musk at the end. “And worst case scenario, meaning scenario, if our planet falls apart, we can all go to Mars with the other man that we love and trust: Elon Musk,” Thompson said.

Looks like there’s plenty of bad blood here.
