Saweetie and 21 Savage were rumored to have been in Dubai at the same time earlier this month.
Saweetie is clearing the air on rumors that she’s entangled with 21 Savage or throwing shade at his alleged beau, Latto.
Social media has attempted to make a connection between the Icy Girl rapper and 21 after fans speculated that they were both in Dubai at the same time earlier this month. The heat was packed on even more when Saweetie referred to herself as “Big Mama”—Latto’s alter-ego—during a recent interview with Mystery Fashionist on Dec. 7.
After the clip made it rounds, one fan commented underneath: “Messy starting like that w all the 21 cheating on Latto w her speculations.” The comment prompted Saweetie to respond, “Literally never met him. Go get some money & get off the internet. BROKEYYYYYY“—the latter being another nod to Latto’s song of the same name.
Latto and 21 Savage have been speculated to be dating for some time now, despite both denying any romantic involvement. Fans recently speculated that 21’s new tattoo behind his ear is rumored to say “Alyssa”—the “Copper Cove” rapper’s real name. Additionally, Latto has a tattoo in the same spot that reads “Sheyaa,” 21 Savage’s birth name.
The duo’s connection dates back to 2020, when they both posted Instagram Stories from the same tropical location. At the time, Latto brushed off the murmurs in an interview with Wild 94.1, explaining they were performing in Puerto Rico at the same venue.
“It’s videos on YouTube of me performing with him at the Palace, I think that was the Palace,” she said. “Like it be real respect, you know what I’m saying?” She also flat out said “No” when asked if there was anything going between them. Months later, 21 Savage praised Latto’s natural beauty on Instagram, posting-and-deleting a IG Story that read: “No makeup Dam u fine It’s only 1 way I can come bout you twin.”
They’ve since collaborated on songs like Latto’s “Wheelie” and “Pull Up.” On Latto’s newest album Sugar Honey Iced Tea, she dropped bars that play on 21’s name. On the track “Settle Down” she raps: “Lay a ho* down and then lay up with a savage.” Latto has also included 21 in her lavish Atlanta birthday parties.
The 25-year-old has consistently chosen privacy over publicity, whilst confirming in August that she’s been in a relationship for over two years. “The internet don’t know a goddamn thing, let’s start there,” she told Apple Music 1’s Ebro Darden when asked about dating. “I like being private. It ain’t really nobody’s business. Listen to the music and you’ll know what you need to know.”
Similarly, 21 Savage denied having a “celebrity girlfriend” during a Clubhouse session last year. “I don’t do all the antics and sh*t. I don’t got a celebrity girlfriend,” he declared.
