Sean “Diddy” Combs Accused Of Trying To Obstruct Justice From Jail

Sean “Diddy” Combs has been accused of trying to obstruct justice from jail.

Legal journalist Meghann Cuniff reported on Saturday (Nov. 16) that court filings reveal Combs has been attempting to reach out to potential witnesses to “influence” public opinion on his case.

Phone call records obtained by the prosecutors show that the disgraced mogul had been calling family members with hopes of contacting possible witnesses. Combs requested that they coach the witnesses, urging them to craft “narratives” that corroborate his recollection of any events the court may bring up. Legal documents claimed that marketing ploys had been used by the Combs team to allegedly alter public opinion as well.

They recalled one incident that found him urging his kids to post a video of themselves wishing him a happy birthday on his social media account. The court filing claims Diddy surveyed the post’s numbers such as audience engagement. The artist “explicitly discussed with his family how to ensure that the video had his desired effect on potential jury members in this case,” the legal document read. Subsequent posts were uploaded to Combs’ Instagram with the hope of painting Diddy in a positive light ahead of the trial.

Prosecutors have used Sean Combs’ behavior to deduce that he intended to blackmail victims and possibly bribe witnesses ahead of his trial.

“The defendant has shown repeatedly—even while in custody—that he will flagrantly and repeatedly flout rules in order to improperly impact the outcome of his case. The defendant has shown, in other words, that he cannot be trusted to abide by rules or conditions,” the legal document read.

“The defendant’s efforts to obstruct the integrity of this proceeding also includes relentless efforts to contact potential witnesses, including victims of his abuse who could provide powerful testimony against him,” prosecutors added.

Despite the accusations, Diddy’s lawyers have since made a third request for bail. The artist’s legal team argued in their proposal that Combs should be freed so he could better prepare for his forthcoming May 2025 trial. However, using their court filings to claim that Diddy has been attempting to obstruct justice, prosecutors argued that Combs should remain behind bars.
