“The Bachelor” stars Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici just introduced fans to a big family addition in a recent Instagram post. The couple has been married for nearly 11 years and have three children. Now, they also have a dog named Moose.
‘Moose’ Is an Older Rescue Boxer
On January 12, Giudici shared the fun news via her Instagram page and tagged Lowe. The first photo in her carousel showed the full family, including Moose, posing together on the front steps of their home.
“Everyone, please welcome Moose!”
Giudici explained, “Santa and Daddy took the kids’ requests for a dog for Christmas into consideration. We are happy to add this 7 year old (we think) rescue boxer into our zoo. We hope he loves us as much as we have already grown to love him.”
She noted, “Banjo was not his original name, it was the name given to him by the shelter that he didn’t respond to. We tried to call out common boxer names to see if any were ones he responded to and Moose was something we all thought he liked.”
“The Bachelor” star included a short video showing the kids learning about “Banjo,” renamed “Moose,” on Christmas morning via a letter from Santa. Giudici also gave fans a look at Mia asking Santa in person, and via a letter, for a new dog.
As the family drove home with their new addition, Moose sprawled across Mia’s lap as he looked out the window. Additional photos showed Moose settling into his new home quite nicely.
The Family Needed to Rehome Their Previous Dog Gus
As People shared in April 2023, the family decided their previous dog, Gus, needed to be rehomed. Lowe explained via his Instagram Stories that the decision came after Gus bit their son Samuel on the side of the head.
The decision came several weeks after Samuel was taken to the emergency room as a result of the bite. “One night several weeks ago, Samuel bent down to pet Gus and Gus bit him on the side of the head,” he explained at the time.
“The result was a trip to the E.R. and a staple in the head. So as much as I love that dog, I have to protect my kids first. But he’s in a great home and we’ll still get to see him occasionally,” Lowe added.
Luckily, the family found a fantastic new home for Gus. Their dog trainer took Gus, and he seemed to settle into his new home smoothly.
Bachelor Nation swooned over the family’s new addition. Many specifically noted their excitement that “The Bachelor” stars took in an older rescue dog.
“I love stories of middle aged rescue dogs!!!!!! Everyone loves the puppies, but the older dogs deserve homes on Xmas toooooo!!!! Woohoo! What an amazing holiday for the kiddos,” gushed one fan.
Another wrote, “My heart is so happy to see an ‘influencer’ promoting adopting. And adopting an older pup at that… Moose hit the jackpot with you guys!!!!”
