Selena Gomez had a moment to forget while speaking at a charity event on Thursday evening.
The 32-year-old looked dashing as she spoke at her Rare Impact Fund Benefit at nay Studios West, addressing the mission of her charity, which works with the the Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services (DHMS) to help prevent suicide among youths.
"They are committed to youth mental health, from suicide prevention training in schools to their drop-in center here in L.A., and their Teen Line lifeline," Gomez said in a video obtained by TMZ.
"I am very honored to be working with such incredible changemakers."
It was all going well until it was time to introduce the executive director Didi Hirsch. That's when Selena accidentally said 'Diddy' due to the similarity of their names.
The crowd picked up on the mistake, laughing as Selena cracked a smile. After the gaffe, Gomez apologized: "I really am sorry."
Diddy was arrested in September and indicted on charges that include racketeering and sex trafficking.
The rest of the night was a hit
Gomez then invited exec Lyn Morris and another DHMS executive to the stage, greeting them with hugs as the mistake was soon forgotten.
While speaking withe People, Gomez noted that trying "not to isolate" is one of the biggest tips she tries to follow when it comes to her mental health.
When Rare Beauty was launched in September 2020, Gomez announced that her goal was to raise $100 million for mental health services for young people. As for the brand's website, it has so far raised $15 million.
"This is probably the most important thing I do with my time, and it's not just this event," Gomez told People.
"It's constantly every day showing up for people. We've built a community with Rare, and I'm so proud of that. We hopefully have helped people feel less alone, and that's all our goal has ever been."
