Shawn says fame made it harder to work out who he is
BRAVO to Shawn Mendes who has candidly opened up about his sexuality, saying he is still “figuring it out”.
The Canadian singer-songwriter has had high-profile romances with singers Camila Cabello and Sabrina Carpenter but has been dogged by cruel jokes about his sexuality on social media for years, with some pressuring him to come out.
But now Shawn has spoken about how finding fame when he was so young has made it harder to work out who he is.
Speaking on stage at an intimate show in Colorado on Monday, he explained: “I was really young when I started. I was 15 years old.
“The truth is that I didn’t get to do a lot of 15-year-old things and discover parts of myself that you do at 15.
“Since I was really young, there’s this thing about my sexuality, and people have been talking about it so long.

“I think it’s kind of silly, because I think sexuality is such a beautifully complex thing, and it’s so hard to just put into boxes.
“It always felt like such an intrusion on something very personal to me.
“Something that I was figuring out in myself, something that I had yet to discover and still have yet to discover.”
He added: “The truth about my life and my sexuality is that, man, I’m just figuring it out like everyone.
“And I don’t really know sometimes and I know other times.”
Good on him.

Eurovision's nul points off Becky
I AM keeping my hopes high for Eurovision next year, but Becky Hill wants to make it loud and clear that she won’t be representing the UK, ever.
The dance star has slammed speculation she could be shimmying on to the stage in Switzerland next May.
It comes after fans suggested she had followed key people involved in the selection process on Instagram, but that doesn’t seem likely.
She wrote on the app: “This is b*****ks by the way, I’ve been asked before and my answer hasn’t changed, it’s a resounding no.”
I don’t blame her.
Lovely to Leigh you, girls
LEIGH-ANNE Pinnock managed to stage a mini Little Mix reunion when Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirlwall turned up to watch her solo show in London.
They cheered her from a balcony at venue Koko on Monday, while Leigh-Anne danced in this white bodysuit, before changing into a strappy black catsuit.
It’s the first time they’ve all been seen in a room together since Little Mix completed their final tour in May 2022.
Leigh-Anne recently had another reunion when partner Andre Gray returned from two years playing football in Greece and Saudi Arabia to sign for Plymouth Argyle.
Introducing her song Anticipation, she said: “Has anyone ever been in a long-distance relationship? It sucks.
“But there is an up to it. Hubby has just signed to a team in the UK so it’s looking up for now.
“But there is one sexy thing – the anticipation.”
She played the final night of her UK tour in Manchester last night and I’m hoping she will now get back in the studio to complete her long-discussed debut album.

Sunset smile for Nic
NICOLE Scherzinger has a smile on her face – and it’s not hard to see why.
She wore this sleek red dress in the States while promoting her turn in the Broadway production of Sunset Boulevard, which she is tipped to win a Tony award for.
If you didn’t catch the production in London’s West End, you can now enjoy the official soundtrack, which was released on Friday.

ADELE OF BOOST FOR 'BEES
THE Maccabees have revealed how an unlikely singalong with Adele and Florence Welch started the ball rolling for their recently announced comeback.
The boys split in 2017 but then had a jam with their fellow musicians in February 2020 at guitarist Hugo White’s wedding. It eventually led to their decision to reunite for All Points East Festival 2025.
Referring to frontman Orlando Weeks singing at his nuptials, Hugo said: “I was like, ‘I don’t think he’s going to do that, even for my wedding’. But he did, he came, and we did The Maccabees again.”
Bandmate Felix White added to Radio X: “It was us and Jack Penate, then us and Jamie T, then us and Florence Welch, and then us and Adele.
“Because it was Hugo’s wedding, he was doing the billing. Supporting The Maccabees was Adele.”
