Pro tip: Don’t send celebrities money! Some stars have ride or die superfans that would go as far to financially helping them despite not having the means. A-listers including Brad Pitt and Tom Hanks have addressed scams involving their identity that have turned people’s lives into a nightmare.

In 2025, a French woman named Anne admitted to wiring whom she thought was Brad almost $800,000 after she received AI images of the Babylon actor in the hospital. However, she isn’t the only person who fell victim to celebrity scams. In Touch rounded up the famous faces who called out con artists against lies and deceit.

“At first I said to myself that it was fake, that it’s ridiculous,” a French woman named Anne said of being contacted by someone claiming to be the actor’s mother asking for a loan to cover his medical bills for kidney cancer. But the AI-generated images above somehow convinced her — and Anne sent nearly $800,000. Brad’s rep reminded fans that he doesn’t use social media.

“There are multiple ads over the internet falsely using my name, likeness and voice promoting miracle cures and wonder drugs. These ads have been created without my consent, fraudulently and through AI. Do not lose your hard-earned money,” the actor wrote on Instagram in 2024. He issued a similar warning in 2023.

“I don’t blame anyone but myself,” said a San Diego widow who’s living in her car after losing her life savings because she thought she was dating the star in 2024. The scammers even sent a fake driver’s license, which is circulating online, as “proof.” (Keanu doesn’t use social media.)
