Paige DeSorbo and Craig Conover dated for three years. Within this time, the Summer House and Southern Charm stars became a relationship status quo for many fans. The two Bravolebs are quirky, driven, and seemed to really find their match in one another. Sadly, just before New Year’s, the two called it quits, leaving fans to wonder where it all went wrong. But for eagle eyed-followers, the breakup was months in the making. Here are the red flags we noticed.
Craig Conover wanted Paige DeSorbo to move
Now, as a New Jersey girl myself, I couldn’t imagine being asked to move down to the South. Everything would feel weird. Not only would I have to find a new bagel place, but my entire family would still be back East.
I imagine this is exactly how Paige felt whenever the Sewing Down South founder asked about a possible relocation. Paige had her career set up in New York. Between her podcast, influencing gig, and modeling jobs, it would have been extremely hard for her to keep her workload afloat.
As for Craig, he had successfully launched his sewing business in Charleston. His first and only brick-and-mortar was open on King Street. As fans saw, he had expanded into a warehouse, which was again located in Charleston. He was also expected to continue his podcast with Austen Kroll. Not to mention, both film their respective shows in each of their cities.
It became painfully obvious early on that neither one was ever really going to move. Multiple challenges came with living apart, and towards the end, the distance just seemed to grow larger, especially after Paige made it clear during the latest Summer House season that she wouldn’t move.
Craig Conover and Paige DeSorbo might have had different dreams
Their ability to let one another dream big made Paige and Craig a great couple. However, as their relationship deepened, it became obvious that the two were not always on the same page.
From day one, Paige has always been an independent woman who rarely held her opinion back. Just last season, she refused any monetary help from Craig when looking for a new apartment. She wanted her success and not with the help of a boyfriend.
During the trailer for Summer House Season 9, Craig is heard telling his then-girlfriend that she can’t “choose work all the time.” But the fashionista didn’t balk as she replied, “Should I apologize for being strong and independent?”
On the other hand, Craig has always wanted to settle down with a family. When he dated Naomie Olindo, he made a baby pillow with the name “Penelope” on it, noting it was the baby girl they would never have. As Craig aged, it felt like he was morphing into a more traditional role. He has enjoyed building his home and nesting. So it isn’t too far-fetched to assume he might have wanted a more traditional housewife to go with his white picket fence dream.
Paige DeSorbo and Craig Conover broke up on good terms
The two decided to call it quits, but unlike some other Bravo relationships, these two are on the same wavelength.
According to a source via Us Weekly, “Craig was ready for the next steps and had plans to propose to Paige. He was really pushing for the next steps and wanted to settle down with her.” The insider added, “Paige does not want to move to Charleston, and logistically, it was never going to work out long-term. Many of their friends are not shocked at all, but everyone is sad for them.”
For many, it feels like the relationship ending was long overdue. The source shared that conversations had been going on for months. And “Paige wanted to announce it because fans would notice them not being together for New Year’s.”
During her Giggly Squad podcast, Paige shared, “Craig and I have decided to no longer be together. I love him and I think he loves me. I think we will remain friends. No one did anything. It wasn’t a bad thing.”
Sadly, it feels like the duo just drifted apart. And sometimes, in life, that happens. That doesn’t mean that they might never reconcile. It just means that right now, both are choosing to put themselves first, which is admirable.
Southern Charm and Summer House are available to stream on Peacock.
