Sinead O'Connor, the legendary musician who tragically passed away at 56 on July 26, 2023, had detailed her poignant wishes for her children in her will. The world was shocked when it was announced that the singer was found "unresponsive" at her London home.

Her cause of death was later determined to be chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma, with a "exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and bronchial asthma together with low grade lower respiratory tract infection" also noted on her death certificate.

However, a decade before her tragic death, Sinead had signed her will, appointing her ex-husband John Reynolds as the executor.

In her will, she explicitly expressed how she wanted her children to handle her death. She wrote in her will, prior to her conversion to Islam: "My children can dispense my ashes as they see fit."

She further instructed her children, who inherited £1.7million, to re-release her music after her death, reports the Mirror.

"I direct that after my death, and at the discretion of any of my children who are then over 18, my albums are to be released so as to 'milk it for what it's worth," she added. The substantial sum was left to her four children, Jake, Brigidine, Yeshua and Shane. Tragically, Shane passed away at the tender age of 17 in January 2022.

According to Irish probate documents snagged by The Sun, Sinead O'Connor's estate was worth over £1.7million before bills and funerals costs chipped it down to around £1.4million. The songstress also requested a send-off in priest's garb, with a copy of the Hebrew bible and her album, Theology with her.

When the tragic news hit, a statement was released saying: "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinéad. Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time."

Southwark Coroners Court confirmed: "This is to confirm that Ms O'Connor died of natural causes. The coroner has therefore ceased their involvement in her death. If an inquest is to be opened, the date of the brief public hearing will be provided on our website."

Prior to her death, Sinead had updated fans on her life and revealed that she was planning to make more music. Her management team later confirmed that she had been in the final stages of 11th studio album, her first in nine years. She had also been looking into booking a tour for 2024, as well as exploring opportunities to turn her 2021 memoir, Rememberings, into a movie.
