Rod Stewart has assured fans he is "not done yet" as he celebrated his 80th birthday. The singer celebrated the milestone today and took to instagram with a message for his millions of supporters around the world.
Rod posted a message saying: "May I take this opportunity on this my 80th birthday to personally express my gratitude and thanks to all my loyal and rowdy fans all over the world for helping give me such a wonderful life. In return I hope I've given you some memorable songs and lively concerts and...I've not finished yet."
Wife Penny Lancaster also posted a photo of Rod which is thought to be on their current family holiday in Barbados which has cost Rod millions to fly out all his nearest and dearest. They are enjoying a 10 day cruise on a luxury yacht.
Penny, 53, wrote: "Happy birthday my darling. So blessed to be sharing this day with all our kids. Building more memories to carry to our hearts forever. I love you."
Celeb fans also lining up to celebrate Rod's milestone. Davina McCall wrote: "Happy birthday Rod. Thank you for all the joy and dancing. Hope you have the BEST day." Jools Holland wrote: "Many happy returns dear pal."
The family birthday trip comes after Rod flew them all first class to Florida and told them that they would not need to pay a penny during the celebrations.
It's thought up to 14 guests are attending the exclusive do including wife Penny sons Alastair Wallace, 19, and Aiden Patrick, 13, as well as Rod's daughter Kimberly Stewart, 45.
Rod, who has eight children by five women, was also photographed watching his beloved Celtic on a laptop on the boat, as nothing will get between him and his football team. The party has continued on dry land too, including an evening at La Guérite Beach in St Barths.
Rod's daughter's Ruby, 37, and Renee, 32, are onboard with their respective partners Jake Kalic and Adam Sumner, as well as Liam Stewart, 30, and his wife Nicole Artukovich, who is expecting their second child.
Baby grandson's Otis and Louie, both one, are also on the trip.
The timing of Rod's birthday is ideal so he can relax and recuperate ahead of a busy year of gigs. He will perform at his residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas as well as shows closer to home.
He announced more of “The Encore Shows” in August, which will see him return to Vegas venue for 12 dates in March, May and June in 2025. There are also dates this Summer in the US with Billy Joel as well as solo shows in Europe.
And the biggest show of the year will see Rod play Glastonbury Festival’s Legend’s slot this year.
In November, Rod said: "After all these years, I'm proud and ready and more than able to take the stage again to pleasure and titillate my friends at Glastonbury in June. I'll see you there!."
Sir Rod headlined Glastonbury in 2002, performing on Sunday night to close out the festival.
