Sister Wives’ Christine Explains Why Meri, Robyn and Kody Were Not Invited to Her and David’s Wedding

Sister Wives star Christine Brown revealed why her ex-husband, Kody Brown, and former sister wives Meri Brown and Robyn Brown weren’t invited to her and David Woolley’s wedding.

Christine, 52, quickly knew that David, 60, was the one, and they started wedding planning just one month after they began dating. Despite not officially being engaged, the couple toured wedding venues in Utah during the Sunday, October 27, episode. In addition to scoping out possible venues, Christine and David also spoke about their guest list.

“We’ll invite Janelle [Brown] to our wedding, Janelle’s kids,” Christine said about her former sister wife and the six children that Janelle, 55, shares with Kody, 55. “Leon [Brown], for sure, Meri’s child. I am not ready to be around Meri and Robyn and Kody yet.”

After Christine ended her spiritual marriage to Kody in November 2021, she also cut ties with Meri, 53, and Robyn, 45. Janelle later left the Brown patriarch in December 2022, and Meri and Kody’s split was confirmed soon after in January 2023. In light of the failed marriages, Robyn remains Kody’s last remaining wife.

In addition to discussing the guest list, Christine and David – who tied the knot in October 2023 – said they wanted their nuptials to be a grand occasion.

“We’re thinking minimum of 350,” Christine told one venue coordinator about the headcount, adding that about 700 would be invited if they included all of her and David’s family members. “We have really big families. I have six kids but we have 18 kids all together in my family and then David.”

While Christine wanted her fairytale wedding, David admitted he would be happy to elope in Las Vegas. However, he insisted he was willing to have a big wedding to make Christine happy.

“Christine deserves to have a nice, big wedding she never had,” he said in a joint confessional with his now wife. “And that’s the thing I want to give to her, even though it would be cheaper to go to Vegas.”

Kody also reflected on Christine’s relationship with David during the episode.

“I’ve heard rumors about Christine dating,” Kody said in his confessional. “I’ve heard rumors that he’s Christine’s soulmate. She’s very excited about the relationship. I’m offended for her on the idea that she’d be stuck with me for eternity when her soulmate was out there to be found.”

While the TLC show is only now featuring the early stages of Christine and David’s wedding planning process, their wedding was previously featured in a special that aired in January. Ahead of the special, Christine and David exclusively spoke to In Touch about why they wanted the wedding to be captured by cameras.

“We were talking about our wedding and things like that. And then just through the discussion he’s like, ‘Look, you have people that have been watching you for 14 years now and they’ve been following your story and now you have this romance and you have everything that you wanted. And I think they would appreciate watching it,’” Christine recalled to In Touch.

The duo went “back and forth” on whether the ceremony would be filmed, though David said he thought Christine’s fans “would like watching it.”

“I knew that they wanted to be part of it, and I had no problem with it,” he continued. “It was different to see all the cameras and everything and all this stuff going on. I thought we were at a royal wedding, and it was like, ‘Wait a minute, this is my wedding.’ This is weird. Because there was too much attention going on. It was crazy.”
