Sister Wives star Janelle Brown took a page out of Lizzo’s book with her reaction to Meri Brown revealing that she left Kody Brown and planned to move to Utah.
“I was kind of surprised,” the certified health coach, 55, said during the Sunday, November 10, episode of the TLC series. “I’m like, ‘Wow.’ And then I thought, ‘It’s about damn time.’”
Janelle elaborated that she was surprised because Meri, 53, is “loyal to a fault,” so she didn’t think she would ever leave Kody, 55.
“I think she — it’s kind of that dog that keeps coming back because they’re loyal — not to say Meri is a dog, but I think she just has that kind of loyalty,” she continued. “And I think finally she just reached her end.”
Christine Brown also shared her reaction to Meri and Kody’s split, telling the Lizzie’s Heritage Inn owner, “It’s better on the other side, isn’t it? It will be. It is. I promise, so much better. … I’m happy for you.”
In a confessional, Christine, 52, added, “I don’t know what’s happening with her and Kody. I love being divorced, and I don’t think she’s there yet. I don’t think she likes being divorced. I think she hoped it would have worked.”
Meri said in her own confessional, “I recognize that Christine’s really trying to cheer me on, but she and I are not in a relationship where I’m comfortable opening up to her. It’s only been a couple of months for me, and it’s still very new and there’s still a lot that I’m processing through.”
Meri was married to Kody from 1990 to 2014, when they got a divorce so that he could legally marry his fourth wife, Robyn Brown. He and Meri remained in a spiritual union until she hinted at their split during a December 2022 episode of Sister Wives. The former couple then confirmed the news in January 2023.
“In light of a recent unapproved press release, we feel compelled to share our own truth, in our own way and in our own timing,” they said in a joint statement on Instagram. “After more than a decade of working on our relationship in our own unique ways, we have made the decision to permanently terminate our marriage relationship. During this process, we are committed to kindness and respect toward each other and to all the members of our family.”
Meri and Kody continued, “We are also committed to the continued healing of any and all relationships within the family so that we can move forward with forgiveness, grace and love.”
Meri was the third Sister Wives star to announce her split from Kody. Christine revealed in November 2021 that she had parted ways with the Brown Family Entertainment Founder, and Janelle followed suit in December 2022.
“I don’t think that any of the three of us, me and Janelle and Christine, you know, came into our marriages and this life together thinking that this is where we’re going to end up,” Meri said during Sunday’s episode. “I also have every confidence that things will work out how they’re meant to be for us.”
