There could be a very big year ahead for gadget fans, with rumours rife that some of the greatest technology firms on the planet will launch some surprise new devices in 2025. Apple, Samsung, Sky and Amazon all look set to reveal major upgrades over the next 12 months, and if you love tinkering with tech or fancy adding some extra devices to your home, here are some of the things you'll want to watch out for.
Will Apple launch a new iPhone SE this year? (Image: APPLE)
Apple in 2025
It won't come as a surprise to see Apple launching a new range of iPhone 17 and 17 Pro models in September, but there could be some bombshells this year as well.
Rumours continue to swirl around the web that a new budget iPhone SE could be released as soon as March and feature an all-screen design, more power and better camera.
SE models are always cheaper than Apple's flagship devices so watch this space if your budget won't stretch to the latest and greatest Apple call makers.
Along with that lower-priced device, we could also see an iPhone Air revealed in the autumn. As the name suggests, it could be thinner and lighter than current models and that could prove popular for those not wanting their pockets filled with a massive slab of technology.
Samsung in 2025
It seems almost certain that Samsung will unleash its new Galaxy S25 later this month but that might not be the only device coming this year.
Some experts are predicting that the Korean technology giant will also showcase a Galaxy Z Flip6 FE model at some point in 2025.
For those not in the know, Fan Edition (FE) phones are cheaper versions of the firm's premium devices. For example, the Galaxy S24 FE still gets plenty of powerful features, a triple camera and smart design but costs around £150 less than its flagship S24 sibling.
If the rumours are correct, it could finally mean foldables will become a tiny bit more affordable—let's hope that wish comes true.

Sky introduce new streaming TV 'Sky Glass' in 2021
Sky in 2025
Telly addicts have some exciting news coming very soon. Sky has confirmed that it will be launching something 'better' this February and it's sure to bring a big boost to UK homes.
Announcing the news, Sky told Express.co.uk in an email, "Hello from Sky. Be one of the first to see what's next. Smarter, brighter and better than ever."
That's all we know for now but this news could mean a new Sky Q box is on its way or maybe the firm will update its dinky Sky Stream devices.
Sky's Glass TVs are also due for a refresh, so maybe we'll see these connected screens getting a bright makeover. The update will be announced in February, so watch this space.
Amazon Echo update (Image: AMAZON)
Amazon in 2025
Will this finally be the year that Amazon releases its biggest change to Alexa ever? The company announced back in 2023 that it was planning to make this chatty assistant even smarter and more conversational but things have been pretty quiet since.
Some reports have suggest that testing of this AI Alexa upgrade has been causing some issues which is why Amazon hasn't pushed it out to the masses just yet.
Hopefully, the gremlins will be ironed out this year and you'll soon be able to do more things and get better responses to your requests.
There is the possibility that Amazon will charge a monthly fee for this upgrade but we'll have to wait and see. If you love your Echo the 2025 could bring plenty of new features to it.

Microsoft in 2025
Windows 10 will finally be scrapped later this year with Microsoft hell bent on ending support from October 2025. However, recent stats have revealed that millions are still using the ageing operating system with Windows 10 numbers actually growing over the past few months.
Will this mean the US technology giant has to make a surprise decision and delay the end of life of its most popular OS?
We'll have to wait and see but it could be an interesting few months for Windows.
