Lynda Obst, a renowned Hollywood film producer, has passed away at the age of 74 after battling chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Obst was known for her work on iconic films such as Sleepless in Seattle, Interstellar, and The Invention of Lying.

The industry has paid tribute to her, with Top Gun star Glenn Powell describing her as a "true trailblazer" who was always willing to help him learn during his internship with her. Powell tweeted: "I interned for Lynda when I first moved to LA. A true trailblazer who never missed an opportunity to help me learn. I'd often get to drive her home from the office and witnessed someone who took in everything. To her, the entire world was a great story ripe for the making. RIP."

Obst began her career as an editor at The New York Times before transitioning to film production in the 1980s, working alongside Debra Hill on projects such as Adventures in Babysitting and The Fisher King.

She later established her own production company, Lynda Obst Productions, which co-produced Interstellar with director Christopher Nolan in 2014, marking a milestone for her company.

And now, the entertainment world is mourning the loss of Lynda Obst, leaving behind not only an inspiring legacy but also her grandchildren and son, manager-producer Oly Obst.

He expressed his admiration for his late mother, "My mom was a trailblazer and a fierce advocate for women. Also, she was an amazing mother, sister and best friend. [My wife] Julie and I are incredibly grateful that she was my mom and that my daughters got to have her as a grandmother. We will miss her.", reports the Mirror.

Sharing his experiences with Obst, journalist Chris Gardner took to Twitter to pay tribute: "I got to spend a few hours with Lynda earlier this year for a profile and I'll never forget that day or her. She was a true trailblazer and simply one-of-a-kind."

Known for her formidable track record in Hollywood, Obst's reputation as a stalwart advocate for women and her enduring connections across the industry - with writers, actors, executives, filmmakers, and her peers in production - remains unparalleled.
