Qualcomm recently unveiled its Snapdragon 8 Elite, and phones featuring the processor are only now starting to appear. However, leaks about the next-gen Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 have already surfaced. Although the launch is still over 10 months away, early rumors hint at significant performance gains over current-generation chips.
For starters, the Snapdragon 8 Elite already offers a substantial upgrade over last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. It transitions from Kryo to Oryon cores and reaches a clock speed of 4.32GHz, the highest on a smartphone chipset yet. Built on TSMC’s new 3nm process, it delivers more than a 30% performance boost over the 8 Gen 3.
Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 Benchmarks Based on Leaks
In his post on X, tipster @Jukanlosreve suggests that both the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 and Dimensity 9500 SoCs will see a 20% increase in single-core and multi-core performance. He further suggests it will score roughly 4,000 in the single-core Geekbench 6 CPU benchmark. That’s a jump of 25-30% over its predecessor.
The current-gen Snapdragon 8 Elite scored 2,990 in our benchmark tests and has been reported to reach a maximum of 3,200 so far. While 8 Elite 2’s AnTuTu scores have yet to surface, even in rumors, as its arrival is still far away, we expect it to easily score upwards of 3.2-3.3 million.
It was also rumored that the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 would use Samsung Foundry’s SF2 2nm-class manufacturing in addition to TSMC’s N3P process. However, the tipster himself recently claimed that this may no longer be the case.
Qualcomm will be utilizing the N3P process this time (also used in Apple’s A18 Pro), offering better performance and improved efficiency over the N3 process in the current 8 Elite.
While little is known about the upcoming processor, and most information, including the tipster’s post, is based on rumors without solid evidence, Qualcomm’s track record suggests the Snapdragon 8 Elite will likely focus on better heat management and a more efficient user experience.
