Solange Knowles has returned with a short film.
The multidisciplinary artist announced that the short VHS film, Shakersss.mov, will be showcased at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles from Feb. 16 to May 4 as part of the American Gurl: home—land exhibition. The 38-year-old directed and stars in the self-documented video, which is a little over eight minutes long.
On the Shakersss website, the short is described as a “moving liturgy of praise expressed through reverence for self, God, and the exalted mother Yemaya, emphasizing our profound connection to water and its vital role in existence.”
Solange also wrote a personal note to viewers about the film’s connection to water.
“Hold on to the people, places, and things that make you feel seen, held, and safe! And hold on to yourself when the tide is low,” she penned on the website.
“I made this lil film Shakersss for absolutely no reason other than a reminder to myself that light always reveals itself, and if you water the questions enough, answers will rise within you with unshakable faith.”
Shakersss can also be viewed on the website.
