Tomorrow is Apple’s big launch day for the first M4 Macs. And reportedly, in sync with those new debuts, the company will also start piloting a scaled back Vision Pro presence in some Apple Stores.
New limited pilot starts Friday at Apple Stores
Mark Gurman posted on X today about the new pilot:
Apple is going to pilot shrinking down the Vision Pro presence in some retail stores tomorrow as it starts displaying the new Macs. Right now, most stores have two AVP tables: 1 for demos, 1 for display units. The pilot will move to one table for both demos and display models.
Space inside of Apple’s retail stores is undoubtedly at a premium, so if Apple can condense its Vision Pro presence, it makes sense to do so.
Right now, the experience for users with a Vision Pro demo usually takes place away from the ‘sales floor’ where products are displayed.
It sounds like that will change with this new pilot. Depending on Apple’s setup, this could potentially lead to a less comfortable experience demoing the Vision Pro.
It’s unclear exactly how many locations will be piloting this new approach. It’s also very possible Apple will decide not to roll it out everywhere. But I’ll be interested to track the company’s evolving approach to Vision Pro in the Apple Store.
