St. Vincent Surprises Fans by Thanking Wife and Daughter at Grammys: “We’ve Kept It Under Wraps”

St. Vincent proved to be a big winner at the 2025 Grammys on Sunday and surprised fans with who she thanked in her acceptance speeches.

The artist, whose real name is Anne Clark, won three awards during the Grammy Award premiere ceremony ahead of the telecast, taking home trophies for best alternative music album, best alternative music performance and best rock song. While accepting for rock song, St. Vincent thanked her “beautiful family — my wife Leah and our beautiful daughter;” she shouted them out again during her album speech.

It had not been publicly announced that the rocker was married or had welcomed a child, though she had opened up to Billboard last summer about being queer. In the press room backstage at Crypto.com Arena — as she stood carefully balancing her three statues — St. Vincent acknowledged that “most people are” unaware of her personal life updates.

“We’ve kept it under wraps,” she told reporters, while also joking, “the child is young, just to be clear, the child is young,” and she hadn’t been harboring a secret for years. And as for how she’ll be spending the rest of the night with her family, she added, “I’m gonna play at the top of the [televised] show, which is really fun; I have my sisters in town and we’re just going to make the night ours, and probably be in bed by 10 if all things go well.”

St. Vincent also weighed in this year’s LGBTQ crop of nominees, saying, “There have always been queer people in the history of the world and especially in music, and so I think there’s a bunch of queer people celebrated this year especially. And that’s great, of course it’s great. Empathy and humanity, let’s go.”
