Strictly Come Dancing stars to honour Robin Windsor with special tribute show

A special tribute show for the late Strictly Come Dancing star Robin Windsor, who passed away at 44, is set to take place with a stellar line-up of professionals.

The event, titled 'Robin Windsor: The Final Act', will be hosted by his former dance partner Lisa Riley and current judge Anton Du Beke. Created by Pasha Kovalev and Anya Garnis with the blessing of Windsor's family, the show aims to celebrate his life and legacy.

All profits from the November 3 performance will benefit the mental health charity Sane, where Windsor served as an ambassador during his time on the BBC One series from 2010 to 2013.

In a heartfelt chat on Good Morning Britain, Kovalev shared, "It feels like he is always around, it’s strange. But it feels like he’s always guiding." He added, "I think it’s still settling, the realisation that he is not with us."

The night promises unforgettable performances from stars such as Deborah Meaden, Beverley Knight, Marisha Wallace, Joanne Clifton, Vincent Simone, Lance Ellington, Lauren Oakley, Kai Widdrington, Aljaz Skorjanec, and Janette Manrara. In their announcement, Kovalev and Garnis expressed that Windsor was "loved by all who knew him" and remarked, "We worked alongside him throughout his incredible career, sharing many stages together."

They concluded, "This show is a way for his friends from across the dance world to come together and honour him through what he loved the most – dance and music. The tribute is not only a celebration of his life but also a way to raise awareness of mental health, reminding everyone that hope is always within reach."

The show will take place at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London, with tickets up for grabs on the LW Theatres website. During his sparkling stint on Strictly, Windsor dazzled audiences alongside Patsy Kensit and Anita Dobson, as well as Riley, and even clinched the 2011 Children In Need special dancing with presenter Susanna Reid.

He's also twirled around the dance floor with Alison Hammond and Sara Cox in Strictly Christmas specials and boasts the unique accolade of starring on Broadway, the West End, and Strictly Come Dancing all within the same year. This news comes hot on the heels of the announcement that a slew of professional dancers are set to honour Windsor in the Legends of The Dance Floor tour, sweeping through England and Scotland this October, featuring the likes of Brendan Cole, James Jordan, Kovalev, and Ian Waite.

Meanwhile, the beloved dance show has been waltzing through a bit of a storm recently after allegations surfaced against professional dancer Giovanni Pernice by his ex-dance partner Amanda Abbington. The Beeb swung into action with an investigation and last month declared it had reviewed and "upheld some, but not all" of her complaints.
