Strictly Come Dancing professional Janette Manrara has opened up about her and husband Aljaz Škorjanec's contrasting views on parenthood during their first date. Despite tying the knot in 2017 and welcoming their daughter Lyra Rose in July last year, Janette wasn't always sure she wanted to be a mother.
On Giovanna Fletcher's Happy mum Happy Baby podcast, Strictly star Janette shared: "Well, literally the first date that we had, the first thing Aljaz said basically was: 'I can't wait to be a dad.'"
She continued, revealing her initial hesitations: "That was like on day one in the conversation. And I had a very different story. If I'm honest, I actually sat my mother down and said to her: 'Mum, I don't think I'm going to be a mum.'"

The American dancer, aged 41, confessed her career ambitions once made her doubt whether she'd ever have children, especially when she began dating Aljaz, who is 34.
However, since the arrival of Lyra, Janette feels they've become a 'massive team' and that everything 'works really well'.
Reflecting on her journey to motherhood, Janette concluded: "But luckily, I think I chose that I did want to be a mother and I did want to have a child because I found the right person to do that with."

Janette Manrara, host of Strictly's It Takes Two, shared insights into her personal life with fans: "For me, it stems from 'I think I do want to be a mother, but it has to be with the right person. And when I met him (Aljaz) and our story started, that really shifted."
Her husband Aljaz Skorjanec, just wrapped up another stellar series on Strictly Come Dancing where he was this season's runner-up alongside model Tasha Ghouri.
The couple is also set to appear in a celebrity episode of the music quiz show The Hit List, which airs tonight (Saturday, December 21) at 5.30pm on BBC One, reports Lancs Live.
