SWV’s LeLee Lyons is trying to snag a couple of minutes during Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Halftime Show.
The singer took to Threads to express her interest in performing alongside Dot, who sampled the SWV song, “Use Your Heart” on the GNX album cut, “Heart Pt. 6.”
"Soooo @kendricklamar sampled our song “use your heart”. Wouldn’t it be a treat if we performed together at the Super Bowl? [Fingers] crossed,” she wrote.
“Heart Pt. 6” features uncredited vocals from SWV’s 1996 song, which appeared on the R&B trio’s second studio album, New Beginning. Lamar borrows SWV’s chorus for the Sounwave and Jack Antonoff-produced track: “Use your heart and not your eyes (Baby, just relax your mind) / If you got time, then I got time (Yeah, yeah) / Free your thoughts and watch them fly / Use your heart and not your eyes (Mm-hmm).”
“Heart Pt. 6” has become notable, if only for its title. This song is Dot’s attempt at restoring his series after Drake named one of his Kendrick diss songs, “THE HEART PART SIX” earlier this year. The 6 God’s mockery came after Kung Fu Kenny insulted Drizzy’s timestamp series with the diss, “6:16 in LA.”
