Taylor Swift Loses Out to Ryan Reynolds in Celebrity Roommate Poll

3 weeks ago 2

Ryan Reynolds bested Taylor Swift in a poll of celebrities Americans would most want as their roommates.

The survey, conducted between November 7 and 11 by the Harris Poll on behalf of Zillow, asked 3,071 American adults which celebrities they would most want to share a house with, and the Deadpool star took the top spot.

According to Zillow, 17 percent of respondents chose Reynolds, while Swift was the top choice for 14 percent. Dune star Zendaya ranked third with 9 percent, while megastar Beyoncé came in fourth with 7 percent.

Swift is close friends with Reynolds and his wife, Blake Lively. She is also the godmother of their daughters. Reynolds confirmed the relationship during the promotion of his latest film, Deadpool & Wolverine.

Kendrick Lamar, Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan and Timothée Chalamet also featured on the list.

For Gen Zers, respondents aged 18 to 29, Zendaya was the top choice with 19 percent, while Reynolds and Swift ranked second and third, respectively—with 16 percent and 11 percent of the vote. Newsweek contacted representatives of Reynolds and Swift for comment via email.

The comedian Druski was the influencer or content creator that Gen Z most preferred as a roommate, receiving 24 percent of the vote.

The top athletes that Americans wanted for roommates included household names such as Simone Biles and LeBron James, who ranked first and second in the athletes category, respectively—with 17 percent and 11 percent. Footballer Lionel Messi and F1 star Max Verstappen also made the list.

While Swift may not have been the U.S.'s top choice for a roommate, she can take some consolation in this year's Spotify Wrapped results.

The audio company announced that Swift was the most-streamed artist of 2024, helped by the release of The Tortured Poets Department and the prominence of her record-breaking Eras Tour.

In a message to her fans played via Spotify, Swift said: "I look back on this year and think about how special you guys made it for us being on the Eras Tour. We went all over the world. We went to Europe, Australia, Asia, back to America, then to Canada."

"And so, thank you if you came to see the show. Thank you for streaming the music. It's just been such a wild ride, and I really appreciate everything you guys have done, including listening to my music so much. So cool."
