On March 3, 2017, Antonia Gorga, aka Nonna, the beloved mother of Teresa Giudice and Joe Gorga, passed away. Her scenes on Real Housewives of New Jersey always felt like a warm Italian hug. It was clear that Antonia loved, loved, loved her daughter. Teresa felt the same. So when her late mother’s birthday came and went, Teresa took to her socials to pay a sweet tribute to the woman who brought her into this world.

During RHONJ Season 8, Nonna’s passing was beyond fresh in Teresa and Joe’s hearts. They even hired a spiritual medium, who nailed her reading from their mother. Teresa learned that her children’s Nonna remained at their sides. Likewise, Joe listened to a word from his mother, letting him know that she was running freely, sans any pain.
I just rewatched this scene. As both parties teared up, an overwhelming feeling of ugh hit me square in my gut. Teresa and Joe used to be so close. Their current divide sucks.
When the fourth anniversary of her passing rolled around, Teresa got a tattoo to celebrate her life. Recently, Nonna’s birthday passed. Therefore, Teresa once again chose to pay her respects. This time, Teresa did so via her since-expired Instagram stories.
The Daily Dish saved and reshared these stories for anyone who might have been (literally) sleeping during their regularly scheduled nightly online lurking sessions. In her post, an image of Teresa and her mother appeared. The duo are sitting closely together, smiling behind a white-iced birthday cake.
On this image, Teresa wrote, “Happy birthday to my Beautiful Mommy in Heaven. I miss you tremendously & you are always in my heart.” Gia Giudice then posted an equally sweet tribute around the same time as her mother, which The Daily Dish shared.
“Happy heavenly birthday, my angel. I miss you every day, Nonna,” Teresa’s mini-me daughter sweetly wrote, looking like the cutest baby meatball New Jersey has ever seen, courtesy of her shared image.
Real Housewives of New Jersey is streaming on Peacock.
