Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter’s accomplishments were literally put on display at immersive exhibit The Book Of HOV: A Tribute, held at the Brooklyn Public Library in 2023. From that exhibit comes Hov’s latest release, The Book of HOV: A Tribute To JAY-Z, a coffee table book highlighting his achievements.
Dropping on his 55th birthday (Dec. 4), the tome “details the pillars of Shawn Carter’s influence, from his artistry and craft to his entrepreneurship and activism,” reads a press release. The hefty work will include nearly 700 images and in-depth essays chronicling the “Empire State Of Mind” rapper’s journey from Brooklyn’s Marcy Projects to becoming one of the most influential and business-savvy Hip-Hop artists of all time.
Available in Assouline’s Classics and Ultimate collections, a Special Limited Edition encased in a white-bronze clamshell will also be available. Made in collaboration with artist Daniel Arsham — the sculpter responsible for the “HOV Hands” displayed at the exhibition — a portion of the proceeds from Limited Edition sales will be donated to the Brooklyn Public Library.
Roc Nation co-founder and vice chairman Jay Brown told Variety of the exhibit, “It’s an absolute honor to bring this exhibit to life and highlight Jay’s unprecedented impact on music, culture, business, philanthropy and society. He leveraged his artistic genius to ascend heights that were previously unimaginable. The exhibit is a testament to JAY-Z setting a blueprint for the leaders of tomorrow to follow.”
The Book of HOV: A Tribute To JAY-Z, classic edition retails for $120 while an “ultimate” edition retails for $2,000.
