The Challenge season 40 became an individual game during the Wednesday, October 23, episode, and Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio started rounding up his own allies to take on what was left of the “vacation alliance.”
Who Are ‘Johnny’s Angels’ on ‘The Challenge’ Season 40?
With Devin Walker and Kaycee Clark eliminated, Tori Deal and Josh Martinez were the only two players left as part of the “vacation alliance.” Tori, 31, chose Johnny, 42, as a target this week, which made it clear that they were playing on opposite sides of the house.
In order to take on the “vacation alliance” and those working with them – like Jordan Wiseley, Michele Fitzgerald and Olivia Kaiser – Johnny rounded up his own group of loyal followers that he dubbed “Johnny’s Angels.” The group consisted of Jenny West, Laurel Stucky, Rachel Robinson and Aviv Melmed, which gave the seven-time champion allies within multiple eras.
However, despite working on different sides, Rachel, 41, and Tori made a pact to keep open communication with each other, which would also give them a line to each other’s close male allies, Johnny and Jordan, 34, respectively.
Who Won the Daily Challenge on ‘The Challenge’ Season 40, Episode 10?
At the daily challenge, T.J. Lavin flipped a coin to reveal that it was a male elimination day, which meant the man who came in last place would automatically be going in against one of the targets – Johnny, Ryan Kehoe or Derek Chavez. Meanwhile, the woman who came in last place would get a penalty at the next challenge.
The players had to run back and forth in the dirt to retrieve tennis balls that they used to fill up a cylinder. Once the cylinder was filled, they had to solve a puzzle to win the challenge.
Tori won for the women, while Jordan, 34, was victorious for the men. Meanwhile, Michele, 34, and Ryan, 43, were the last place finishers. Michele also had a breakdown after suffering from heatstroke, but Olivia, 32, talked her down and convinced her to stay in the game.
Who Was Eliminated on ‘The Challenge’ Season 40, Episode 10?
With Ryan automatically heading into elimination, Jordan and Tori had to choose between Johnny or Derek as his opponent. Ryan admittedly didn’t want to go against his best friend Derek and said he was willing to take on Johnny and be the underdog.
Meanwhile, Johnny accused Tori of only choosing him as a target because it’s what Devin, 35, wanted, but she stood strong and insisted that her opinions of him were made because of his behavior – not Devin’s influence.
T.J. revealed that if the challenge winners hit a stalemate, the player of the opposite sex of that week’s elimination nominees would make the final decision. So, Tori was ultimately in control of this week’s vote, although Jordan gave her some guidance in deliberations by pointing out that Johnny generally gains more allies and gets stronger the longer he’s able to stay in the game.
Tori and Jordan ultimately voted Johnny in to go against Ryan. The elimination required them to ride ATVs on opposite sides of a dirt course and try to catch each other. The first player to do so twice was the winner, and Johnny beat Ryan, sending Ryan home.
Which Targets Were Picked in ‘The Challenge’ Season 40, Episode 10?
Now, Johnny was in control to pick the female targets for next week. However, his plan hit a roadblock when T.J. said he wasn’t able to choose Tori since she was the previous challenge winner.
Instead, Johnny picked other players who were aligned with Devin before his elimination: Michele, Olivia and Nia Moore.
