Sean “Diddy” Combs is currently in prison as he awaits trial after being charged with sex trafficking and racketeering. He has denied all allegations and pleaded not guilty. Following his arrest in September 2024, Investigation Discovery will break down his crimes in the upcoming docuseries The Fall of Diddy. What happens in the trailer and when does the docuseries premiere?
What Is ‘The Fall of Diddy’ About?
The Fall of Diddy features more than 30 interviews, including from people who accused him of abuse, his former friends and colleagues and employees who previously worked with him in intimate settings.
“From those who saw his alleged violence and temper during his college days at Howard University and the onset of his career with Bad Boy Records, to those who knew him at the height of his influence and power in recent years, The Fall of Diddy covers decades of mounting allegations,” according to the press release.
The interviewees include Danity Kane member D.Woods, former VIBE Magazine Editor-in-Chief Danyel Smith, former collaborator Rodney ‘Lil Rod’ Jones, his more personal chef Jourdan Cha’Taun, his former personal drive Wardel Fenderson and more.
“Through these interviews combined with a vast collection of archival footage, The Fall of Diddy paints a holistic picture of a mogul who is alleged to have wielded his extensive power and influence to obscure, for decades, a pattern of abuse and violence that left an unprecedented amount of pain and suffering in his wake,” the press release added.
What Happens in the ‘Fall of Diddy’ Trailer?
The trailer – which was released on January 9, 2025 – began with several people with knowledge of Diddy’s past explaining that they have stayed “quiet for 18 years” and they were “absolutely nervous” to share what they know about him.
The clip then cut to a voiceover of a woman explaining that Diddy was “facing a slew of allegations.” Footage showed a 2016 incident of Diddy assaulting his then-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, in a hotel hallway, which was released in May 2024 before he was arrested. He later issued an apology after the video circulated online.
A following voiceover explained how important Diddy had been to the music industry. “It’s hard to overstate how important the Puff sound was to the 90s,” a man said as photos of Diddy appeared onscreen. However, it was noted that many people were not aware of what Diddy was doing out of the spotlight.
Several interviewees briefly shared their negative experiences with Diddy before one man added, “There’s a lot of people like Puffy in this music business. Exposing Puffy means exposing them.”
