The Girls ‘Go Completely Nuts’ in New ‘Yellowjackets’ Season 3 Trailer

2 hours ago 1

Once upon a time, a bunch of teen girls crashed in the wilderness, and — well, we know what happened. But do we??

Showtime’s “Yellowjackets” returns for its third season in February, and in the full trailer for Season 3, there are clearly plenty of secrets still buried among the survivors of Flight 2525. Back in 1997, they’ve made it through a ruthless winter that claimed multiple lives — but they’ve also developed an appetite for new meals and rules after listening to the wilderness all those months, which may not survive the summer. Tensions rise among the former teammates as they question their leadership and customs, as they consider (or at least, one of them does) what they’ll tell people in the outside world if they ever make it back there alive. They’ve already alienated Coach Scott (Steven Kreuger), but what happens when they find him?

Well, you can guess. But that doesn’t make it any less frightening.

For those alive in the present, that question still looms; fresh off the death of one of their own, Shauna (Melanie Lynskey) informs the adult Yellowjackets that “Someone wants us dead.” They’ll have a tough job of it going up against citizen detective Misty Quigley (Christina Ricci) State Senator Taissa Turner (Tawney Cypress), and murderer-on-the-lam Shauna Sadecki but sure! Good luck with that. (Though what’s that letter to Shauna Shipman about, with the wilderness symbol drawn where the return address should be?) The trailer offers another peek at new cast member Hilary Swank, but none of the other recent addition, Joel McHale. Mystery!

“Yellowjackets” is executive produced by Ashley Lyle, Bart Nickerson, and fellow showrunner Jonathan Lisco. Drew Comins of Creative Engine also serves as executive producer along with Jeff W. Byrd, Sarah L. Thompson, Ameni Rozsa and Brad Van Arragon. The series is produced for SHOWTIME® by Lionsgate Television.

Season 3 premieres Friday, February 14 with two episodes. It will be available to stream starting that day and air live Sunday, February 16 on Showtime and Paramount+ with Showtime.
