The Onion Just Did The FUNNIEST Thing Ever To Take Down Conspiracy Theorist Alex Jones -- And Sandy Hook Families Are Involved!

Alex Jones has officially lost InfoWars to a new buyer! The most HILARIOUS buyer possible!

The right-winger lost in court and was order to pay the families of the Sandy Hook massacre $1.5 billion for perpetuating the disgusting lie that the tragedy was a hoax.

Months after the conspiracy theorist was federally ordered to liquidate his assets — including InfoWars — to cover the whopping amount, a new outlet has entered the chat. The Onion. And no, that is not a joke. On Thursday, the satirical media network purchased the right-wing outlet with the goal of relaunching it as a parody site — mocking the very same “weird Internet personalities” that got famous off of it, like Jones. HA!

Oh, and get this: the families of the Sandy Hook shooting victims BACKED the satirical network, even agreeing to give up a portion of their payout, to help drive up the value of its bid. OMG! Parent company Global Tetrahedron declined to reveal the exact amount they purchased the right-wing outlet for at auction, but CEO Ben Collins told the New York Times in a statement:

“Ultimately, the vast majority of gun owners support common-sense gun laws and inherently reject the radical vision of the country peddled by fear-mongers like Alex Jones and the gun industry. The Onion has a long history of helping the American public navigate some of the most difficult moments in American life, from our historic issue after 9/11 to our groundbreaking reportage after every American mass shooting. In that tradition, we hope the Sandy Hook families will be able to marvel at the cosmic joke we will soon make of InfoWars.com.”

It doesn’t get much better than that! Ha!

Additionally, Collins revealed on rising social media app Bluesky that he went forward with the purchase because “people on Bluesky told us it would be funny to buy InfoWars. And those people were right. This is the funniest thing that has ever happened.”

It seriously is!

The new and improved site will relaunch in January 2025 with nonprofit Everytown for Gun Safety, which seeks to end gun violence, as their exclusive advertiser. Seems they won’t just be going after conspiracy theorists but working to give back to communities hurt by this country’s gun violence epidemic as well.
