Season 10 of RHONY featured an all-star cast consisting of Bethenny Frankel, Ramona Singer, Carole Radziwill, Luann de Lesseps, Sonja Morgan, Dorinda Medley, and Tinsley Mortimer. These gals paired with booze and a boat are already a great time. But when the waters of Cartegena turned, their partying transitioned into pleas and prayers.

Before their departure, Bethenny and Carole were fighting. Likewise, Luann and Dorinda were also at odds. But Ramona remained adamant that they get on this boat, stressing, “I want to go. We’ll all go on the boat. We’ll resolve this [on] a beautiful boat.”

Tinsley planned this trip, so she agreed. “It’s going to be nice,” she suggested. Shortly after, her costars reluctantly gave in and boarded their rental.

During their hour-and-a-half jaunt to a private island, the girls sunbathed and danced on the bow. Once they arrived at their private island, they swam and continued having a great time as a cast. All was well in their world, if only for a few beats.

But then, “The coast guard [called] and said it was time to go,” said our superstar Luann, as “the sea picks up at this bewitching hour of 3 p.m., so suddenly, it’s like, ‘Let’s get on the boat.’”

Ramona was not pleased to leave their private island early, asking, “Are you kidding me? No way. We want to stay here all day and all night. Hello, we’re not in a little rowboat,” she remarked.

But the powers that be cared little for her whines, so they began their journey home. However, as the boat sped back to its starting point, the waves kicked up several notches, sending the ladies into a tizzy on deck. “Slow it down!” Ramona yelled, jumping into the outstretched arms of Dorinda, screeching, “I can’t swim!”

“I peed my swimsuit,” Sonja added.

Meanwhile, deck furniture began raining down on them, sending Luann ducking for cover on the floor. Across the way, Bethenny starts comforting Carole, who is vomiting her entire guts out into a bucket.

“I am losing my mind,” Bethenny stressed as a siren went off and “a 15-foot wave” crashed into their vessel. “Why is there a siren? I am freaking out,” she cried, yelling, “This isn’t funny. Oh my God, get on the floor!”

“They need to slow down,” Dorinda implored while asking where the life vests were. But then, Dorinda smelled smoke. Their anchor had accidentally deployed and was dragging on the ocean floor.

At this point, their cameras had to go down. “Due to the rough waters, all production crew had to stop filming for the safety of everyone on board,” the title card read on our screens.

Once safe, production and the ladies reflected on their brush with death on RHONY

Thankfully, everyone lived to see another day. On RHONY, the cast explained what happened.

“The boat was trying to reel in [the anchor], and that was causing the [smokey] smell. So we have the captain, who runs out of the cabin with two swords, a la Pirates of the Caribbean, and runs to the top of the boat, and he cuts off the anchor,” Luann begins.

“Had it been on the chain, the boat would have capsized, and I would not have been here to tell the story. We would have all gotten killed,” Ramona added.

“We all thought we were going to die at sea,” Luann stressed, noting, “It was so bad, even the cameras had to go down because they were holding on for dear life. I’m just holding myself on the ground, praying that the boat [does not] capsize.”

As for Carole, she exclaimed that she often placed herself “in some of the most dangerous places in the world, [but] being in Afghanistan during the war and the Middle East during that war was nothing compared to what happened on that boat. By the time we got back to the house, all of us just needed to decompress, and we were suffering a little bit from post-dramatic disorder. Because even though no one got hurt, all of us were just like, ‘What the f*ck just happened.’”

Tinsley was the only unfazed soul in sight. “I never feared for my life. But I can’t take away how they felt,” she confessed.

The ladies returned home shortly after their near-death experience, thankful for the safety of the Upper East Side.
