The Simpsons has been dealt a blow by failing to predict Donald Trump's re-election.
People across the world watched as the United States cast their ballots and resulted in a win for Donald Trump. Reaching the magic number of 270 in the early hours of Wednesday morning (November 6), Trump declared victory as he danced to "YMCA" by the Village People.
However, The Simpsons, now famed for its strange ability to predict world events, was hit hard after it became clear Trump would be reinstated as President. This marks the first time that The Simpsons was unable to successfully predict the future.

Earlier this year, fans of the iconic TV show uncovered an old episode from the year 2000. Titled, Bart to the Future, the episode's storyline appeared to prove that Kamala Harris would eventually come to power - albeit in a strange way.
The plot involves Bart seeing into his future, where he is the lowly bum of the family. This is in stark contrast to sister Lisa, who rises to power to become the President of the United States.
Watching the episode back, many fans saw correlations between the show and some of the events leading up to the election, such as Kamala's clothes whilst campaigning. In one shot, Lisa is seen wearing a purple suit with her iconic pearls, something that Kamala herself wore during her inauguration as Vice President, prompting fans to believe Kamala would win.
One viewer penned: "We all know that the Simpsons has this uncanny ability to predict the future. In an episode, Lisa becomes president and she mainly wears purple suit and pearls, similar to Kamala Harris's outfit in her vice president inauguration. Coincidence? I THINK NOT!"
A second user uploaded two pics of Lisa and Kamala wearing the same outfit, declaring: "The Simpsons predict Kamala Harris will be President." Things were made even spookier for fans, when Lisa mentions Donald Trump by name in the episode.
Acting as President in the show, an adult Lisa says: "As you know, we've inherited quite a budget crunch from President Trump". But fans were left in shock when they realised that the episode's predictions did not come true.
"This is the first time The Simpsons were wrong," wrote one user, before adding a sobbing emoji. Whilst a second a user took a more optimistic tone, opting to point out the prediction is meant for four year's time.
Adding a screenshot of Lisa's quote about inheriting a "budget crunch", one user said: "The Simpsons will still be right. Kamala will win in four years and inherit a budget crunch from Trump."
The Simpsons bosses have always said that they never intend to predict the future in their episodes. Rather, they said that due to the show going on for almost 30 years, some plots were going to be mirrored in real life.
