'The View' Hosts Slam Trump's McDonald's Stunt: 'No Hairnet?'

The View hosts slammed former President Donald Trump's "stunt" serving French fries without a hairnet at McDonald's earlier this week, while contrasting it with Vice President Kamala Harris' support for McDonald's protesters during her 2019 presidential campaign.

"She is marching with protestors and striking with McDonald's employees in Las Vegas because the workers are calling on the $15 minimum wage and better working conditions," Whoopi Goldberg said.

The hosts also criticized Trump, stating, "He doesn't even know how much a Happy Meal costs," while also condemning his failure to adhere to sanitary protocols. Clips of the visit have not shown Trump washing his hands or wearing gloves or a hairnet

Goldberg joked, "No hairnet? I don't want your French fries!"

In 2019, the then-California senator joined fast-food workers nationwide as they rallied for higher wages and the right to unionize.

"If we want to talk about these golden arches being a symbol of the best of America, well, the arches are falling short," Harris said. "We have got to recognize that working people deserve livable wages."

Co-host Sunny Hostin criticized Trump for stopping at a McDonald's during a campaign visit to Pennsylvania. He learned how to make fries and operate the drive-thru at a branch in Feasterville-Trevose, Bucks County, on Sunday.

Trump used the opportunity to challenge Harris, claiming she never worked at a fast-food chain during her college years. However, the vice president has previously stated she worked at a McDonald's while attending Howard University in Washington.

Taylor Rogers, RNC spokesperson told Newsweek: "Lyin' Kamala lied about ever working at McDonald's and she is now lying about President Trump's historic moment making delicious French fries at a McDonald's in battleground Pennsylvania. The truth: President Trump has now worked at McDonald's longer than Kamala Harris ever did."

As for Trump's visit to McDonald's, Hostin said the restaurant was closed and called the visit a "total stunt." She said even if the restaurant was shut down, Trump should have used the opportunity to ask about the workers' conditions, as Harris had done.

Ironically, a report from the Bucks County Department of Health after an inspection on March 27 cited health code violations at the fast-food restaurant Trump visited.

They noted food workers at the restaurant were "not wearing hair restraints as required, which includes management that assists in packaging and preparing food."

"Employees shall wear hair restraints such as hats, hair coverings or nets, they are effectively designed and worn to keep their hair from contacting exposed food; clean equipment, utensils and linen; and unwrapped single-service and single-use articles," the report said.
