Pamela Hayden, the voice of The Simpsons' Milhouse and a bevvy of characters on the hit show, has announced she's retiring after 35 years working on the iconic sitcom.
Hayden, 70, who hails from Maine in the US, voiced characters on the show including Milhouse Van Houten, bully Jimbo Jones and Rod Flanders.
In a statement announcing her departure she said it's hard letting go to the fan-favourite character Milhouse.

"The time has come for me to hang up my microphone, but how do I say goodbye to The Simpsons?... Not easily," read the statement.
"It's been an honor and a joy to have worked on such a funny, witty, and groundbreaking show, and to give voice to Milhouse (and Jimbo Jones, Rod Flanders, Janey, Malibu Stacy, and many others)."
She added that she will miss Milhouse the most.

"Here's to everyone who made this terrific ride I've been on possible. Thanks for 35 years!! Be well and happy. My best to you all. P.S. I'll always have a special place in my heart for that blue-haired 10-year-old boy with glasses," she added.
After the shock news broke, fans of The Simpsons rushed to thank Hayden for her contribution to the show on her Instagram page.

The last episode that she is set to appear in is reportedly called Treehouse of Horror Presents: Simpsons Wicked This Way Comes, which will air on November 24, while her characters will be recast.
According to IMDB, Hayden has worked on 694 episodes of the show since 1989.
