What’s going on with David Henrie and Dan Benson? The former Disney Channel stars played best friends on Wizards of Waverly Place for years, but it looks like that’s definitely not the case IRL.
It all began after a comment from David during a video with Buzzfeed, after the reboot cast was asked to pick a recurring Wizards of Waverly Place character they’d want to see in a reboot. Those choices included Juliet van Heusen, Mason Greyback, Stevie Nichols, Gigi Hollingsworth, Hugh Normous, and Zeke Beakerman. As David reviewed the list, he remarked, “I can’t believe you put one of these people on here.”
“Millennials understand that,” he added. Then, when he read the names aloud — it became clear he was talking about Zeke Beakerman, played by Dan, which drew laughter from the cast. Dan, who portrayed David’s best friend in the original series, later transitioned to a career on OnlyFans after his private photos were leaked online.
Following the viral moment, Dan addressed the jab on X on Oct. 30, writing, “David Henrie can suck my d—k. I’ll pay him more than they paid me for Wizards I promise you that.”
Later, Dan then shared that David had blocked him on social media, and then posted a video clip of him pretending to cry in front of a screenshot of David’s X account. “We pretend to be best friends for years. How could you do this to me??” the former Disney star captioned the video.
Previously, Dan has revealed he would never return to the show even if asked during an interview with TMZ from January 2024.
:I’ve reshaped my life and took back all those years I’d given to acting, and it felt like I had nothing left. I don’t have anything left, and I don’t love it anymore, so I don’t want to do it anymore,” he said, explaining that he “put the chance of bringing back the character I played” when he chose to become an “adult content creator.”
He continued, “I think that I put them in a situation where they don’t have a choice. It’s crazy to be an adult content creator and it’s crazier to do it so publicly and to be a former child actor from a Disney Channel show.”
