It's difficult to pick the ten best episodes of The Boys. Prime Video's superhero show has wrapped up its fourth season, with a fifth and final one planned, and there's barely been a bad episode.
Following a team of vigilantes who want to stop the rise of megalomaniac superheroes, The Boys satirizes the likes of Marvel and DC, showing what could happen if Superman and Batman weren't so heroic.
If you're not watching The Boys, you're missing out on one of the best shows on TV. If you have seen it, however, this is the perfect time to re-watch the ten best episodes from across all four current seasons, as ranked on IMDB.
Herogasm: Season 3, Episode 6
This is it, the best episode of The Boys ever, as ranked on IMDB. Herogasm is one big superhero orgy. When a man opens the door using his prehensile appendage, you know you're in for a wild ride. At one point The Deep is caught in the middle of a love-making session with an octopus. The end of the episode sees Soldier Boy finally go one-on-one with Homelander in a confrontation that destroys the entire house - it's quite a climax.
The Female of the Species: Season 1, Episode 4
Homelander's abominable ethics are revealed in the second-highest-rated episode of The Boys when he teams up with Maeve to try and avert a mid-air catastrophe on board an airplane. Instead of saving the passengers, he allows them to crash, knowing there'll be no witness, later using the incident to advocate for Supes in the military. Meanwhile, Kimiko's tragic backstory is fleshed out, and Starlight discovers life in The Seven isn't all it cracked up to be.
Here Comes a Candle to Light You to Bed: Season 3, Episode 7
The penultimate episode of season 3 features a resounding revelation: Homelander is actually Soldier Boy's son. That won't stop Soldier Boy teaming with Hughie, Butcher to take him down, whatever it takes. There's also a creative section taking us inside the warped mind of Black Noir as he hallucinates animated woodland characters.
You Found Me: Season 1, Episode 8
In the final episode of The Boys season 1, we discover Butcher's wife, Becca, is raising Homelander's child Ryan. Fast forward to season 4 and we see how that's turned out. Despite Butcher's efforts, Homelander is grooming Ryan to be an uncaring, murderous Supe like himself. This is also the episode in which top-ranking Vought executive Madelyn Stillwell meets a shocking end - Homelander uses his laser eyes to burn her face off.
The Self-Preservation Society: Season 1, Episode 7
The identities of The Boys are exposed in the penultimate episode of season one. Homelander, as expected, flips out, accusing Starlight of a betrayal due to her romantic entanglement with Hughie. Homelander also discovers why Billy Butcher is so mad at him - he assaulted Butcher's wife, Becca.
What I Know: Season 2, Episode 8
The Seven and The Boys go toe-to-toe in the finale of The Boys season 2. As you can imagine, there's widespread carnage. Homelander's son Ryan melts Stormfront's face in a display of power that suggests he's potentially more powerful than his Supe father, but in the process, he kills his mother. There's a high price to pay for wanton violence.
The Name of the Game: Season 1, Episode 1
The very first episode of The Boys is where it all started, and it kicks things off brilliantly. Hughie Campbell is walking with his girlfriend down the street when suddenly she's obliterated by a speeding A-Train, who doesn't really seem that remorseful. So starts Hughie's vendetta, along with millions of people's love for the series.
Glorious Five Year Plan: Season 3 Episode 4
Soldier Boy is unleashed in this episode, going on to become many people's favourite character thanks to his brutal quips and sardonic delivery. Meanwhile, Stan Edgar stands up to Homelander in a rare verbal drubbing that shows the only way to one-up the psychotic Supe is through words.
Over the Hill with the Swords of a Thousand Men: Season 2 Episode 3
The dark origins of Vought are laid bare in this revelatory episode, which is one of the highlights of season two. If that wasn't enough, Stormfront's history is revealed, Butcher gets answers about his wife's disappearance, and we know more about The Deep's powers than we'd ever want to.
The Instant White-Hot Wild: Season 3 Episode 8
Soldier Boy turns out to be as big a villain as Homelander after a shocking twist forces Homelander, Ryan, and Butcher into an unholy alliance. With Billy using Temp V to gain temporary powers, however, his days are numbered.
