These NFL Players Have Done the 'Trump Dance'

President-elect Donald Trump has become known for his interesting dance moves—and they've now been adopted by various NFL players when celebrating on the field.

Trump has been dancing at rallies and other various events for years, which consists of shaking his hips from side to side with his arms in a similar rhythm. Now over the weekend, several sports stars busted out the move to celebrate big plays.

Newsweek emailed a spokesperson for Trump for comment on Monday outside of normal business hours.

San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa celebrated a sack, which is when a defensive player tackles the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage before they can throw a pass, with teammates in a game at Tampa Bay on November 10.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, when Bosa was asked what inspired the dance, he said: "I think you know the answer to that question. All the guys wanted me to do it. I wasn't even going to do it, but the boys reminded me. And it was fun."

A clip of Bosa and his teammates dancing like the president-elect was posted to X (formerly Twitter), where it went viral.

"Bosa and the Niners D just hit the Trump dance after a sack. The NFL can't fine him for that," X user @greg_price11 captioned the video. At the time of writing, it had been viewed 1.9 million times.

This refers to the fact that the star pass rusher was hit with a fine of $11,255 for a violation of the NFL uniform and equipment rules. This stems from him wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat in support of Trump.

Bosa isn't the only one to celebrate with the move as on Sunday, Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers, Tennessee Titans wide receiver Calvin Ridley, and Detroit Lions defensive end Za'Darius Smith celebrated moments in their games with the "Trump Dance."

Bowers moved his arms and hips like Trump to celebrate a touchdown for Las Vegas in a 34-19 loss at Miami. After the game, he told USA Today: "I've seen everyone do it. I watched the UFC fight [Saturday] night and Jon Jones did it. I like watching UFC so I saw it, and thought it was cool."

Jones performed the "Trump Dance" to salute his victory over Stipe Miocic. He then gestured to Trump, who was seated ringside at Madison Square Garden, and gave him the thumbs up.

Ridley did the robotic dance movie while celebrating with teammate Nick Westbrook-Ikhine during Tennessee's 23-13 loss to Minnesota. Smith and Malcolm Rodriguez did it after a sack in the fourth quarter of Detroit's 52-6 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Trump has showcased his trademark moves several times in 2024. In February, Trump's deputy director of communications, Margo Martin, shared a video of him dancing with cheerleaders and a high school marching band as part of the Super Bowl LVIII celebrations. Filmed at the Trump International Golf Course in Florida, the video received 4.6 million views on X.

In March, footage of Trump pumping his fists on stage while the audience cheered him on also went viral, receiving more than 330,000 views.

In October, attendees at a Trump town hall event reportedly began leaving early after the Republican decided to stop taking questions from the audience and instead played music for 39 minutes.

Trump attended the town hall in Oaks, Pennsylvania, moderated by South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem. According to The Washington Post, "some in the crowd began to leave" after Trump said he wouldn't be taking any more questions at the town hall and instead told his team to play a succession of nine songs as he at times danced on stage.

While some Trump supporters may love his dance moves, his wife Melania Trump is less of a fan.

Speaking at the California Republican Party convention in September, Trump said that the former first lady believes his dance moves are "unpresidential."

"She doesn't like when I dance a little bit to the [campaign] music," he told the audience, before showcasing a few moves.
