Let's not even try to pretend that January isn't a bleak month. Yes, we might all be rearing to go on our resolutions but it's also cold and we've all spent our money over Christmas. Saying that, I've found a cheap homeware buy that's bringing me unexpected amounts of joy.
Let me introduce you to the Loowoko Candle Warmer Lamp, £28.99 on Amazon. I got gifted it for Christmas and only just got round to unboxing it earlier this week – now I wish I would have got it out sooner. The second I plugged the lamp in and found a candle to put underneath it, I knew immediately I would be using it every night without fail.
With its sleek wood grain finish and vintage-inspired shape, this lamp makes my living room side table look much more chic than it did before. It’s one of those pieces that looks like it belongs in a stylish boutique or a trendy café, but without the hefty price tag.
But it’s not just about the looks. This clever Loowoko lamp melts your favourite scented candles in a cleaner, safer way, thanks to a 50-watt halogen bulb that gently warms the wax. Within minutes, you’ll notice the fragrance filling the room, and the best part? No flames, no soot and no indoor pollution. It's also ideal for those like me who sometimes forget to blow out a candle before bed and then wake up in a panic.

No more worrying about accidentally leaving your candle burning for too long. And if you love a bit of customisation, you’ll appreciate the dimmer function with four brightness levels. The brighter the light, the faster the candle melts, so you can control how quickly the scent fills your space.
Plus, the fragrance lasts twice as long as burning a candle, meaning you get to enjoy that lovely aroma for hours. Sometimes I can still smell the candle in the room the next morning after it spent an evening under the lamp.
What’s also great is how adjustable the warmer is. It fits candles up to 6 inches tall and the height can be easily adjusted between 4 to 5.7 inches, making it compatible with most candles you have at home.
I've found that the lamp works best on higher-quality candles packed with essential oils. The more fragrant a candle is, the more scent will be released when it goes under the lamp – the same as you'd expect if you were burning one the traditional way. If you like the candle I have in the pictures, it's The White Company Winter Mercury Luxury Votive Candle, £16. It smells incredible as well, of cinnamon, clove and orange.
