Even though Denise Richards was a hit during her time on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, her husband, Aaron Phypers, wasn’t. After years away from the Bravosphere, Aaron has found himself back in the limelight after he was recently hit with a major lawsuit. Here’s what we know.
Aaron Phypers rubbed RHOBH fans the wrong way
Denise joined the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills during Season 9, but fans got more than they bargained for when cameras spotlighted her marriage. Throughout the season, the duo had multiple tense conversations. During several episodes, Aaron didn’t do himself any favors by often putting the other women down. He came off as an excitable man who always wanted to be right. Understandably, the couple was working aggressively to combat the rumors set into motion by Brandi Glanville, but Aaron never seemed to back down.
During part three of the reunion, the cast revealed that they had felt uncomfortable with how Aaron had treated his wife. Many questioned if Denise was being controlled. The couple had been filmed storming out of multiple parties together to avoid the hard topics. At one party, the former Bond girl told her husband to stay quiet since they were still being recorded. But Aaron quipped, “Don’t tell me what to say. I’m going to crush your f*cking hand. Stop it.” Needless to say, fans were hoping not to hear from Aaron again after that outburst.
Aaron Phypers is in trouble again
In Touch revealed that Aaron had been hit with a lawsuit for fraud. The court documents show that a man named Rupert Perry, who is a trustee of the estate of Elina Katsioula-Beall, filed the lawsuit on November 13, 2024. Rupert accuses Aaron of “breach of oral contract and fraud/false promise.” The filing showed that Rupert runs Elina’s estate, sharing, “Elina was an award-winning art director for stage and television. Her work included the stage design for the Academy Awards. And concerts for Janet Jackson, Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney, and Madonna. Elina also owned and operated a successful kitchen design business.”
The paperwork explained that Rupert had met Elina in 2012 and wed one another in 2014. Sadly, in 2019, Elina was diagnosed with sarcoma cancer. The documents read, “After trying many standard treatments, none of which worked, Elina became interested in alternative treatments for her illness, including stem cell treatments.” In June 2023, the couple first met Aaron, “who owned and operated a wellness center in Malibu.” The legal papers claim that Aaron spoke of a stem cell treatment that “he said would cure or at least ameliorate Elina’s condition.”
Aaron Phypers hasn’t replied to the lawsuit
The lawsuit alleged that “Aaron claimed that the treatment had a 98 percent success rate. And he was so confident in it that, if it did not work, he would refund Elina and Rupert fifty percent of the money they paid to him for the treatment.” The suit continued, “Having nothing to lose, and believing Aaron to be an honest individual who would reimburse them 50 percent of their money if the treatment did not work, Elina and Mr. Rupert paid Aaron $126,000.” According to Rupert, his wife received several stem cell treatments from July through September 2023. Sadly “the treatments did not work. In December 2023, Elina had an MRI that showed her tumors had grown 25 percent in the preceding three months.”
The suit claims on December 18, 2023, Elina wrote Aaron to share the news. At this time it is alleged she requested that Aaron refund her 50 percent of the money she paid. The lawsuit goes on to claim that Aaron ignored their request to give back the $63,000. Instead, Aaron suggested that Eilina try another round of treatment. “On March 29, 2024, as she was dying from cancer, Elina sent another email to Aaron along with an invoice for $63,000. And a request for payment in a timely manner.” Elina passed away on May 21. The suit adds, “Defendant’s aforementioned misconduct was intentional, willful, and done for the purpose of depriving Plaintiff of property and/or legal rights or otherwise causing injury.”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is available to stream on Peacock.
