This Morning star's 'stripped back' diet helped her drop two stone after health struggle

1 month ago 6

This Morning star Lisa Snowdon has opened up about the significant dietary changes that helped her shed two stone.

The 52-year-old TV presenter admitted to indulging in the "wrong kind of food" during her forties as she grappled with perimenopause symptoms, leading to cravings for pastries and an over-reliance on coffee to combat sleeplessness and brain fog.

This unhealthy cycle saw Lisa reaching for biscuits instead of nourishing meals, resulting in a three-stone weight gain that took a toll on her self-esteem. Now navigating full menopause, Lisa has adopted a more "stripped back" diet, focusing on vegetables and lean proteins, which has helped her lose two stone.

In a chat with Bella magazine, she shared: "I eat lots of veg and protein, like fish, chicken, steak and eggs. I love pizza and pasta but stay away from refined carbs, bread, and avoid anything processed or heavy. I eat loads of plant-based protein too, like lentils and chickpeas."

Alongside her dietary overhaul, Lisa also embarked on hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and ramped up her exercise routine, which she credits for her two-stone weight loss. A firm believer in the mantra "motion is lotion", Lisa enjoys gym sessions, walks, and weightlifting daily, stating: "It has such a positive impact on your mental health, you never regret a workout."

She also aims for 10,000 steps each day and advises those with desk jobs to take short walks every half an hour, a habit she says "really helps" maintain her wellbeing.

The celebrity initially gained recognition as a model in the 1990s before transitioning to television presenting in 2003, leading BBC's Fightbox. She subsequently took on the role of host for Britain's Next Top Model and later Through the Keyhole alongside the late Sir David Frost.

Partnered with Brendan Cole, she secured third place in the sixth series of Strictly Come Dancing. Currently, she serves as a fashion expert on This Morning and has penned a book titled Just Getting Started: Lessons in Life, Love and Menopause.
