TikTok has launched an updated “Donation” feature for Giving Tuesday, which will make it easier for people to promote, and to contribute to causes directly within the app.
TikTok’s updated Donation feature now lists various causes within the creation flow, which users will then enable them to add to their content via donation stickers, in order to highlight their chosen non-profit.
As per TikTok:
“From international nonprofits to local community initiatives, creators can now choose organizations they are passionate about from Goodstack's validated database of nonprofit partners […] For every fundraiser, shareable stickers will be generated which creators can share across TikTok in their videos, posts, and LIVEs, collecting donations from all distributed stickers, and helping expand reach and visibility to reach the fundraising goal even faster.”
As you can see in the above sequence, the process will enable creators to choose a relevant cause, then create a personalized fundraiser, which they can then promote within their content.
TikTok has launched similar in the past, with its COVID-19 donation stickers, for example, enabling users to promote directly related causes, and assist impacted communities.
TikTok has launched various donation stickers of this type, enabling creators to showcase certain causes. But now, it will be easier than ever for users to select from a larger list of non-profits, and boost that organization’s efforts within their own content.
Which could provide a big boost for charity groups heading into the holiday season. Many TikTok users will no doubt be keen to show their support, and it could end up being a significant awareness tool for many of these providers.
TikTok says that it’s keen to contribute to broader giving season initiatives:
“The TikTok community is not only passionate about giving back, but also driving change. We hope to empower the next wave of creators, changemakers and emerging leaders tackling a wide range of social issues by providing the tools needed to rally support, raise awareness, and inspire change to work towards a kinder, more sustainable, more equitable world.”
It’s a good initiative, which as noted, could end up being a significant driver of donations for various groups.
