Tim Allen and Hulu Help Fill Out ABC’s Midseason Lineup

1 week ago 2

The first quarter of 2025 will bring some familiar names and faces to ABC — both from the network’s own roster and that of its Disney sibling Hulu.

ABC’s midseason lineup includes several Hulu series that will help fill gaps in the schedule. The second season of Only Murders in the Building will air on Thursdays in January, and unscripted Hulu shows The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives and Perfect Wife: The Mysterious Disappearance of Sherri Papini will also spend time on the broadcast network in the winter.

ABC aired season one of OMITB last season to help fill out its lineup before the network’s own scripted shows made their post-strikes return. With a still light slate of new programming — the Tim Allen-led comedy Shifting Gears is the only new scripted show set for the first quarter — the Hulu shows will fill in gaps on the schedule while some others (notably the current Thursday lineup of 911, Doctor Odyssey and Grey’s Anatomy) take a break.

Shifting Gears, which also stars Kat Dennings, will lead off the network’s Wednesday night starting Jan. 8. Abbott Elementary will move up an hour to 8:30, with Celebrity Jeopardy! and the ongoing What Would You Do? closing out the night.

Will Trent and The Rookie will rejoin the schedule on Jan. 7, airing before and after first-year breakout High Potential on Tuesdays. The Bachelor hits the schedule on Jan. 27, airing on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET, with The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives following at 10.

A new version of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, hosted by Joanna Teplin and Clea Shearer of The Home Edit, will premiere Jan. 2 and lead into multi-episode blocks of Only Murders for four weeks. After OMITB ends, docuseries Scamanda (which was originally set for a fall premiere) and Perfect Wife will fill out Thursdays until the March 6 returns of 911, Doctor Odyssey and Grey’s Anatomy. American Idol and The $100,000 Pyramid debut Sunday, March 9.

ABC also says the final season of The Conners will premiere in March but hasn’t set a date yet. Also awaiting dates are Celebrity Wheel of Fortune and Press Your Luck.
