Apple is set to officially bring Apple Intelligence to India in April, removing the need for workarounds that some users currently rely on to access the AI-powered features.

Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed the expansion while discussing the company's financial results for the fiscal 2025 first quarter, which saw revenue reach $124.3 billion-up 4% year over year.

Apple Intelligence Is Coming to India in April with iOS 18.4 Update

Apple Intelligence Requires a Workaround-For Now

At the moment, Indian users who want to access Apple Intelligence features have to rely on a workaround. This extra step has made AI features accessible to a limited group of users but is far from ideal.

That will change in April when Apple rolls out official support for localized English in India. With this update, Indian users will be able to enable Apple Intelligence features without modifying their region or language settings, making AI-driven tools seamlessly available on compatible Apple devices.

AI Features Are Driving iPhone Upgrades

Apple has positioned AI as a key factor in iPhone adoption, and the upcoming India rollout could push more users to upgrade. According to Cook, the iPhone 16 series has performed better than its predecessor in regions where Apple Intelligence is available, suggesting that AI capabilities are influencing consumer choices.

Bringing Apple Intelligence to India could have a similar effect, especially as Apple gains traction in the Indian smartphone market. With India being the world's second-largest smartphone market, this move could strengthen Apple's foothold in the region.

What to Expect from Apple Intelligence and iOS 18.4

The Apple Intelligence rollout in India is expected to coincide with the release of iOS 18.4. This update is rumored to introduce an upgraded Siri that will leverage AI for better context awareness and personalization. Reports suggest that Siri will be able to analyze emails, messages, calendar events, and on-device content to provide more intelligent and relevant responses.

Beyond Siri, Apple Intelligence is expected to enhance writing tools, summarization features, and other AI-powered functionalities across iPhones, iPads, and Macs.

Apple's Expanding Presence in India

Apple has been increasing its focus on India, both in terms of sales and infrastructure. The company set a new revenue record in India during the December quarter, and iPhones were the top-selling smartphones in the country. Apple is also expanding its retail presence with four new stores planned, reinforcing its long-term commitment to the Indian market.

On the enterprise side, adoption of Apple products is also growing. Apple's new CFO, Kevan Parekh, highlighted that Zomato, one of India's leading food delivery companies, has deployed thousands of Macs, showing the increasing demand for Apple's ecosystem in professional environments.
