Tiny detail sparks marriage rumours for Guy Pearce during red carpet appearance

Neighbours star Guy Pearce has sparked marriage rumours after sporting a surprise accessory on the red carpet at the 34th Annual Gotham Film Awards in New York.

Pearce, 57, attended the event on December 2, walking the red carpet wearing a stylish light grey suit with a dark tie.

But it was an accessory spotted on his left hand that set tongues wagging, as it appeared to be a wedding band.

Pearce was at the event having been nominated for Outstanding Supporting Performance for his role in the movie The Brutalist.

Pearce has been in a relationship Game of Thrones star actress Carice van Houten, 48, for the past nine years. The couple share son Monte, eight.

Pearce and the Dutch actress are based in Amsterdam.

The TV and movie actor has been notoriously private about his personal life throughout his career, but did open up about fatherhood in interviews.

In an interview with The Independent in 2023 he spoke about the impact of becoming a dad.

"After Monte was born, someone said to me, "You realise you're now living with your heart on the outside?" And it really is true, isn't it?' he said.

"When I started acting, I knew if I needed to cry that it could come out easily. Then after 15 years of therapy, I became a far calmer and more satisfied human being, but trying to cry in a scene became impossible."

Speaking to Who magazine, Pearce admitted being an older dad has been challenging.

"Having a young child at the ripe old age of 53 is a lot, but I am focused on spending all the time I can with him and being the best dad I can be," he said.

Pearce first found fame on Aussie soap Neighbours playing Mike Young. He was part of the original cast which included Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan. He went on to star iconic Australian movie The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Dessert.

His first major role in Hollywood was alongside Russell Crowe and Kim Basinger in the movie LA Confidential.

Since then he has worked steadily in both movies and TV series, the latest being The Brutalist.

Pearce was previously married to childhood sweetheart, psychologist Kate Mestitz. The couple divorced in 2015.
