2 hours ago 1

Ian Dempsey has opened up about his recent weight loss.

The Today FM presenter shed two stone after being prescribed Ozempic. Doctors gave him the drug following his type-2 diabetes diagnosis in 2012.

However, he gave a warning, saying to anyone not to take it other than what it is prescribed for. And he shared that being on the drug has dulled his love of food.

Ian said: "It was designed to help people with type-2 diabetes, but it does make you less interested in food. Come six o’clock in the evening, I might think, 'that dinner looks great but I'm just not hungry? I certainly wouldn't recommend (Ozempic) for anything other than what it is prescribed for."

Ian injects Ozempic once a week and he has now become more relaxed with his diet.

He told the RTÉ Guide: “I believe that I now will be taking it forever. In the wake of my diagnosis in 2012, I was watching everything I ate but I'm more relaxed about it now.

“It's very manageable now and I suppose it could develop into something more serious as I get older, but so far all is good.”

Ian and his long standing wife Ger will celebrate 39 years of marriage next year after meeting when they were aged just 18 and 19 respectively. Nearly four decades on, their relationship is still about compromise.

The Today FM breakfast show presenter said: "Marriage is all about compromise, so we regularly pick a TV show that we both want to see (most recently, The Penguin).

"I'm usually upbeat and it can be a bit annoying having to listen to that all the time."
