Netflix star José de la Torre has died aged 37 years old.
The actor, who was best known for playing Iván in Top Boy, had shared just months ago that he was suffering from a serious illness.
He had made the announcement in June and had been receiving treatment, during which he had stepped away from the showbiz world. José also worked as a model for various jewellery and fashion brands.
The star, who was from Montilla, Córdoba Province in Spain, is survived by his parents and sister. His funeral was held last Friday, with singer Lolita Flores paying tribute to the actor.
“It breaks my heart to think I’ll never hear your voice again, but I’ll keep talking to you. Love you endlessly, José," she wrote.
His last Instagram post on June 3 saw him share a selection of photos with friends during a holiday in the Canary Islands as they swigged on beers in the sunshine. He captioned the pictures: "The happiness of arriving in the Canary Islands, seeing your friends, grab a mojito and start singing until your voice breaks."
Heartbroken fans have since taken to the comments, with one writing: "What has happened to him? What disease has he passed away from? RIP." While another commented: "What happened to this child???. Too young to leave." A third wrote: "Fly high my friend! Another shining star lights the sky... we will see each other again!" One commented: "In shock!! I don't believe it!! R. I. P."
