Golden Bachelorette contestant Pascal Ibgui said he wants a younger pool of female contestants on The Golden Bachelor if he were to take up the show’s helm.
The world was changed forever in 2002 as The Bachelor sprung onto TV screens for the first time, followed quickly by The Bachelorette in 2003. Bachelor Nation has gone through highs, lows, and enough shocking scandals to last a lifetime and it doesn’t seem to be cooling down anytime soon after the release of spinoffs like The Golden Bachelor/Bachelorette, Bachelor in Paradise, and Bachelor Pad.
Pascal Ibgui pulled no punches on The Golden Bachelorette
Following the success of The Golden Bachelor, which saw fans get to know Gerry Turner, ABC launched The Golden Bachelorette with Joan Vassos as the lucky woman.
Pascal Ibgui managed to beat out 20 other men for a shot at Joan’s heart in her final three. He ultimately decided to take a step back from the competition, claiming he wasn’t developing strong feelings for Joan. Now, his comments suggest there could have been another underlying reason.

Speaking to Us Weekly during the show’s Men Tell All episode taping, Pascal said producers would have to change one major detail if they wanted to secure him for The Golden Bachelor.
“They will have to lower the age,” the 69-year-old said. “The age [has] got to be lower. Yes, I’m old, but I don’t go out with a 72-year-old woman.”
He continued to say that 20-something-year-olds like Joey Graziadei and Kelsey Anderson don’t have their lives centralized around a single place, unlike much older people.
“When you’re my age, I have my business, I have my home, I have my real estate, I have my friends, I have my kids, I have my connection to my health club, to my restaurant. I’m involved in a lot of charity,” the Chicago resident stated. “So, for me to pack up. My stuff and move [somewhere else] is not going to happen. … I want to wake up with somebody in the morning. I want to go to bed with somebody. I want to be able to walk down the street with her and go get coffee in the morning.”
Outside of pooling contestants straight out of college, Pascal suggested basing the Golden Bachelor and Bachelorette series around specific locations.
Fans are not keen on the idea – ‘saw that one coming’
Fans flocked to the comments on Instagram following Pascal’s comments, as one penned: “This is exactly why he SHOULDN’T be the lead.”
“What makes him so worthy of younger women?” another questioned, as a third said, “Run ladies. RUN!!!”
“That’s what always killed me about him as a contestant is if he has that perfect of a life in Chicago and a jet setter hairdresser owns his own salon working around beautiful women all day,” someone else said. “Why in the hell isn’t he married that’s exactly why because he loves all of the other women he’s not a one-woman man.”
