TV star's son is doing much better after heavy substance issues

Mary Cosby’s son wasn’t doing great when he starred on RHOSLC. She stayed back to look after him while the cast went on a family trip because he was going through substance abuse issues.

Robert opens up about substance issues

Robert Cosby Jr was vocal about his substance issues on RHOSLC. While Mary has always maintained how her family are “off limits” to her co-stars, we saw a side to Cosby that we haven’t seen before.

In true mom style, she dropped everything to be there for her son. He is now “steady” after the “heavy” season. She told Us Weekly: “It’s a heavy topic. But for me, because it all just came at once on me.”

She said she “didn’t expect it, but I’m taking it day by day.” Cosby’s co-star, Angie, said that when she has spent quality time with Robert Jr., she noticed what a “kind, engaging and sweet” person he is.

Mary’s son is now doing much better

Mary’s son is now doing “good,” she claims. She stayed back at home and refused to go on the cast trip, which makes complete sense as her children are always her top priority.

Robert Jr. still lives at home with his parents and is currently not in college or working. While Mary joked that she needs to “kick him out of the nest,” she shared that Robert Jr. plans to get his own space soon.

She recently told US Weekly: “He me the other day, ‘Mom, I’m going to get my own place.’ And I said, ‘Well, how are you going to pay for it?’ Because it was his birthday [recently].”

“He goes, ‘I’m going to use my birthday money.’ I said, ‘You don’t even get life babe.’ He goes, ‘No, it’s a down payment,’ and I [asked], ‘The down payment on what?’ He goes. ‘A house,'” Cosby added.
