U.K.’s Pinewood Studios Unveils Revised Expansion Plans Amid “Reduction in Global Production”

Pinewood Group, the U.K. home of the James Bond franchise, unveiled a public consultation on revised expansion plans for Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, England on Thursday. The focus is on the land south of Pinewood Studios.

“We are a dynamic business in a fast-moving industry, and we are committed to investing in the ongoing expansion of Pinewood Studios,” highlighted Pinewood Group CEO David Conway. “The reduction in global content production, combined with rising construction costs and business rates, triggered a review of our existing planning consent, and we believe the revised proposals provide a credible alternative.”

Noting that the area was “recently described by the Prime Minister (Keir Starmer) as ‘the spiritual home of the British film industry’,” Pinewood highlighted that “the expansion and investment would incorporate additional film stages and production facilities alongside the development of a data center.” It added: “This mixed-use development project provides a compelling blend of two of the government’s focus industries as set out in their Modern Industrial Strategy – digital technologies and the creative industries.”

Concluded Pinewood: “A period of local public consultation will commence on February 25-27, 2025 to begin community dialogue about the development options for the site.”
