After a lengthy deliberation, the jury found that McGregor had, in fact, assaulted Hand. He is ordered to pay more than €248,000 in damages to Hand.
Now, the Irish UFC star has responded to losing the case on social media.
McGregor stated on X:
"I will be appealing today's decision. The judge's instruction and the modest award given was for assault, not for aggravated or exemplary damages. I am disappointed that the jury did not hear all the evidence that the DPP reviewed. I am with my family now, focused on my future. Thank you to all my support worldwide ❤️🙏."
McGregor informed the world that he will be appealing the decision made in court and that he was disappointed that the jury did not "hear all the evidence that the DPP reviewed."
McGregor is preparing to appeal the decision, but that will take some time in court. There is no telling what the judge will allow at this juncture. This might also lead to the UFC star not being able to fight. This is just speculation, but McGregor has been convicted of a serious crime.
The UFC might have to draw a proverbial line in the sand in terms of allowing McGregor to return and find under the promotion. He was set to fight Michael Chandler earlier this year, but a broken toe led to his not being able to enter the octagon after almost a three-year layoff.
Now, McGregor is likely going to be stuck in court appealing the decision of losing his civil sexual assault case. There is no telling how long the appeals process may take.
Many believed that McGregor would not return to fight due to the many other businesses and ventures he has been involved in since becoming a global superstar. Now, he may face another significant layoff due to the lawsuit that he has now lost in court.
For now, it appears that McGregor is going to spend time with his family, per his post on X.
