Victoria Beckham not only prefers to stay out of the kitchen but says her family are ‘better’ for it.
VB, 50, who shares Brooklyn, 24, Romeo, 22, Cruz, 19, and 13-year-old Harper with husband David Beckham, has opened up about her family cooking routines, admitting she prefers to stay out of the kitchen for one simple reason.
Despite being a talented singer and fashion designer, the star shared in a recent interview that her culinary skills are lacking, so much so that they cause her stress when trying to use them.
The revelation came when she was asked how she limits her stress, with the mother of four explaining: ‘By not taking on anything, I genuinely don’t think I can do. Oh, and by not cooking.’
She continued to tell The Telegraph that her family supports it, adding, ‘Harper says I can burn water, so it’s probably better for everyone that I don’t.’
The same can’t be said for her husband and eldest son, though, as both David and Brooklyn have a passion for creating delicious dishes in the kitchen.
While chatting to the news outlet, Victoria also spoke about her diet, which became a topic of interest when David revealed on a podcast that his wife has eaten the same thing for the past 25 years.
‘I get quite emotional about food and wine when I’m eating something great, I want everyone to try it,’ he said on the River Cafe Table 4 podcast in 2022.
‘Since I met Victoria, she only eats grilled fish, steamed vegetables, she will very rarely deviate away from there.’
‘The only time she’s probably ever shared something that’s been on my plate was actually when she was pregnant with Harper, and it was the most amazing thing. It was one of my favourite evenings.
The former girl band singer elaborated on her reasoning for her limited menu options, sharing with the publication that she has chosen not to eat meat or wheat after struggling with acne in her 20s.
‘It was because of my skin that I became very careful about what I ate,’ she said.
Elsewhere in the interview, Victoria, who earned the nickname Posh when in the Spice Girls due to her elegant looks and attitude, spoke about her approach to fame and said in her early days she cared about what people thought of her, but as she’s gotten older, all of that has changed.
‘Was there a time when I used to scroll through all the comments about me? Probably. But now I just don’t have the time,’ she explained.
It’s not the first time Victoria has spoken about how her approach to fame has changed over the years. On the same podcast as David, she spoke about how ‘disciplined’ she is with her diet, and how her relationship with her body has improved in recent years.
‘You just become more accepting, don’t you? This is how I look,’ she said.
‘I’m going to make the best of it; work hard at it. I’m very disciplined with the way that I eat, the way that I work out, and the way I work.
‘That’s just who I am. But I do like to have a drink and I’m not going to be one these, “Ah, there are too many calories in a glass of wine” types.’
‘Whatever. Life’s too short. Let’s have a nice time.’
