Virgin Media's winter sale

Selecting the right TV package can be a daunting task, with customers keen to ensure they have access to their favourite channels and films fr a competitive price. Virgin Media is one provider worth considering as it cuts up to £504 off selected plans, here's a dive into the deals.

If you're in the market for a bundle that includes Sky Sports, broadband, Sky Cinema, TV channels, and Netflix - Virgin's sale could be just the ticket. The provider is offering a huge £504 discount on its Biggest Combo bundle plan, the largest saving in its Winter Sale.

With a new monthly price of £69 instead of the usual £97, those who sign up for this 18-month plan will find their 2025 TV bill significantly cheaper than the 2024 rate. The caveat is that you must commit to the full contract.

Also included in the sale is a £125 saving on its Bigger Combo Bundle (both the M350 and Gig1 options) or an £89 total saving for sports enthusiasts with its Bigger Combo + Sports HD M500+ reduced to £65 per month - a saving from its usual £69.99 price - which you can buy here.

It's the newest, alongside a string of winter sales from rivals, including Disney+, Sky TV, and Samsung. Virgin Media's price cuts are available from today, December 27, until February 5, 2025.

The now-cheaper packages include at least 190 TV channels and a choice between Sky Showcase HD, Sky Sports HD and Sky Cinema HD. Additionally, those opting for the Biggest Combo will also receive a Standard with Ads Netflix account - a familiar feature for Sky TV shoppers too.

However, those seeking only Netflix and TV channels might find Sky TV's Essential TV plan more suitable. Priced at a much cheaper £15 per month on a longer 24-month contract, this amounts to a lower overall cost of £360. This serves as an alternative to Virgin's offer as it doesn't include broadband, Sky Sport, or Sky Cinema HD.

Samsung's £250 saving on its Neo QLED sets, along with the latest Disney+ deal offering two months free, are all available during this period between Christmas and New Year. These are other money-saving options worth considering.

If you're currently thinking 'this is cheaper than what I pay', Virgin does have a switching process that allows rivals to transition smoothly. The One Touch Switch process has become an industry standard for broadband, enabling users to switch without needing to contact their old provider, as new providers (in this case, Virgin) handle the notification process.

Recent Trustpilot reviews have given Virgin Media a full five stars for their end-of-contract renewal process. One reviewer praised the company, saying: "Contract was up for renewal and I've got the same TV with an upgrade on broadband for 24 pounds less than what I was paying. Broadband always good and great TV picture."

However, the current Winter Sale is only available to new customers, which has caused frustration among existing customers who are unable to benefit from the savings.

One such customer expressed their disappointment: "I like Virgin Media, but sadly find they don't reward loyal customers. New customers get the best deals, loyal customers pay more. However, very good reliable service in my experience."
